The School District of Washington is currently seeking a candidate to fill a Grounds & Delivery position. Depending on experience, the starting pay range is $12.91 - $16.07 per hour based on applicable experience. This position is benefit eligible, vacation(2 weeks paid annually), 12 PTO days annually, 9 paid holidays, and eligible for PEERS retirement.

Summary

The Grounds and Delivery staff is responsible for the lawn care, site work, and District campus delivery system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

An individual who holds this position is required to:

  • Maintain District lawn care programs at all District building sites.
  • Complete various site projects, such as, but not limited to brush removal, tree trimming, ditch digging, fence and asphalt repairs.
  • Substitute for employee absence within the department as needed and/or as directed.
  • Assist the maintenance staff with tasks such as, but not limited to electrical projects, plumbing, and facility repairs as needed and/or directed.
  • Perform general labor inside and outside the physical plant including handling materials and supplies, moving equipment, and operating power-driven equipment.
  • Delivery, set-up, and pick-up of District portable equipment.
  • Make bank deposits, campus mail distribution, food service laundry delivery, and other delivery duties as needed and/or assigned.
  • Drive District vehicles and equipment such as mowers.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds work such as snow and ice removal, leaf removal, and general lawn and grounds care.
  • Maintain facilities in accordance with state and local safety code requirements, Board of Education policies, and administrative procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Language

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and/or procedural manuals.
  • Write routine correspondence, reports, and memos.
  • Effectively respond to questions and requests from staff members.


Computation

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units such as money, decimals, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

PHYSICAL RELATED REQUIREMENTS

The candidate should be able to move in and around the classroom, building, District buildings, and campus locations. The candidate may be required to lift up to 50lbs. and maintain consistent attendance in accordance with the attendance policy unless otherwise required by law. General functioning such as the ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, utilize District resources including District issued technology and meeting multiple demands from people while interacting with students, staff, and the public are required to fulfill the essential job duties.
