The Greek Life Coordinator is a full-time professional staff member reporting directly to the Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life. The coordinator position lives on campus maintaining a partnership between William Jewell College and the Greek organizations while also providing administrative oversight and support for Greek residential facilities. The Greek Life Coordinator is expected to know, understand, adhere to and uphold all College, residential and Greek policies and regulations and ensures members of William Jewell College fraternities and sororities comply with College and Greek policy while also maintaining a strong culture of leadership and philanthropy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds relationships with Greek leadership and works on risk management issues, alcohol education, membership development, system-wide strategic planning, officer transition, and other important issues specific to Greek organizations. Oversee Panhellenic and IFC in planning and executing formal recruitment and rush.
  • Advise and support Panhellenic and IFC in planning and execution of Greek leadership development. Develop and executes training for Greek chapter advisors and maintains online training and information materials for the Panhellenic and IFC on the College’s learning management system.
  • Assists in the disposition of organizational discipline for sororities and fraternities.
  • Facilitate a minimum weekly meeting with each individual president and other appropriate chapter leadership at their respective Greek House.
  • Responsible for the administration, organization, and oversight of all aspects of Greek housing operations including, but not limited to, check-in and -out, room changes, maintenance work order reporting and tracking, inspections, and incident response. Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency response for Greek facilities.
  • Assist with oversight of events open to non-members of the Greek community that occur in the Greek facilities.
  • Attend all Student Life staff meetings, training, development and in-service functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree required. One to two years of related experience preferred. Requires superior organizational skills and verbal communication skills, staff training, student and parent contact, and public speaking; writing skills needed to maintain policies, programs, and procedures for the departments as well as for all written material representing the College’s orientation programs and multicultural website. Also requires ability to analyze emergency situations and make decisions quickly. Basic computer skills required to prepare written materials and work with the College’s recruitment database/software.
Working Conditions
Mixture of regular office work incorporated into a live-in environment with college students. Position entails long hours during academic year as incumbent is “on-call” to respond to student, parent(s), and staff needs/emergencies. Position also requires work on many evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Environment requires the candidate to have an understanding of supervisory responsibilities, as the position will oversee the leadership of our sororities.
Compensation
Rent/maintenance-free, year-round residence, meal plan during the academic year, plus salary.
