The Grant Development Specialist is dedicated to the Center’s mission to provide health care to all people without prejudice, in a caring manner, regardless of their ability to pay and is responsible for identifying private and government funding to support the Center’s mission.

The Grant Development Specialist assists the Chief Administrative Officer in managing private and government grant applications.

This position secures new grants which includes performing all data research, preparing the proposal, and submitting required grants and reports. This position collaborates with program, facility and finance staff to ensure projects are appropriately represented and accounted for in the grant process. This position must be detail oriented, demonstrate superior writing skills and exhibit excellent initiative and accountability

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepares and submits grant proposals; includes writing and editing private and government grant proposals, conducting research for data needs, collaborating with staff as needed for supporting information, and gathering attachments required for proposals.

· Assists in preparing periodic and final narrative reports and other documentation as required for the program by using a grant tracking tool to monitor project deadlines and ensure reports are submitted in a timely manner

· Identifies new and appropriate grant opportunities through the grants database, Foundations Online, to support CHN’s new and existing projects.

· Collaborate with program and financial departments on grant projects to ensure successful outcomes by providing support throughout the lifecycle of the project, including planning and evaluating.

· Assist with Patient Satisfaction survey process as part of CQI process.

· Prepares other narrative documents in collaboration with the CAO including the Annual Needs Assessment and Annual Report by conducting research, collecting health data and assisting with preparing narrative as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, with 3 years health care experience in a clinic setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant, with 1 year experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Effective language, listening and verbal presentation skills to communicate.
  • Ability to lead, plan, and manage change.
  • Ability to utilize technology (phone, internet, EMR) to conduct patient visits and complete day to day tasks.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop kneel, crouch and crawl, talk and hear, taste and smell.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in similar positions.
