This job exists to: Perform a variety of professional accounting and complex technical duties associated with the classifying, recording, and reporting of all grant activity. The Grant Accountant maintains all accounting and financial records for various federal, state, regional, local, and/or privately funded grants. This position will provide support to grant sponsors and the grant writer throughout the life of each grant.

*This position is in person for the first few months as the onboarding and training is based out of our clinic in Lafayette, Colorado. After the orientation is complete, a remote schedule will be considered with the hiring manager.*

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains financial, bookkeeping, and account records for all federal, state, regional, local and privately-funded grant programs of the organization including preparation of journal entries for grant program transactions and completion of timely reconciliations of grant financial transactions with the general ledger and grant program budgets.
  • Monitors grant program budgets monthly to ensure expenditures are recorded accurately and within budgeted range.
  • Completes or supports monthly, quarterly, or year-end financial reports for all grant programs, as required by the organization and grant funding agencies. Provides support for all grant audit requirements.
  • Assists the Controller, Director of Planning, and CFO in preparing operating and capital budgets for new or renewing grant programs.
  • Guides organization staff on grant regulations and use of grant funding. Answers questions and prepares special reports for organization use in budget tracking and reporting related to grants.

    • Support the safety program by actively looking for opportunities to improve safety practices and evaluate staff for safety practices and ergonomic issues.
  • Project Management:
    • Uses project management skills as both a leader and team member to complete process improvement projects.
  • Compliance:
    • Knowledgeable of and compliant with laws and regulations governing area of responsibility including working knowledge of GAAP, FASB, GASB, and Uniform Guidance requirements.
    • Responsible for reporting any potentially non-compliant conduct.
    • Cooperate fully with the Director of Compliance in upholding Clinica’s Compliance Plan.
  • Growth:
    • Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education, Relias trainings, conferences, and seminars; attends and updates mandatory training.
    • Responsible for giving presentations as needed and assigned.
  • Committees:
    • Responsible for participating, facilitating, and taking minutes on committees as assigned.
    • Responsible for overseeing committee and sub-committee groups and processes to assure success and best outcomes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

SUPERVISION: No

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:

  • This position is expected to perform responsibilities with independent thinking and minimal direction from supervisor.
  • For immediate problems, the position is responsible for independent problem solving.

Individual progress is reviewed quarterly and results are measured and evaluated annually.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; accounting major preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in non-profit accounting with at least one year of grant accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community.
  • Bilingual Spanish desired, but not required.
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results.
  • Must have experience with accounting and finance ERP systems (payables, receivables, general ledger, etc.); experience with Multiview, Adaptive Planning or UKG preferred.
  • Must have proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products preferably Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Typical medical or dental office environment
  • May sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Minimal risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens
  • Ability to travel from clinic to clinic as required
  • Working outside of normal business hours may be required from time to time
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally

Compensation: Approximately $57,225 - $70,380 annually. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.
