Overview:
Kemin Nutrisurance is seeking an experienced quality and regulatory professional to join our team! As a Global Quality and Food Safety Director, you are responsible for developing all quality and regulatory strategies for the Nutrisurance business unit globally. You will also lead the quality efforts for all product lines. This position also sets the regulatory direction for new and existing products, monitoring and influencing regulatory changes, and ensuring regulatory compliance of global sales into the pet food and rendering industries.

This position is based at our Worldwide Kemin headquarters, located in Des Moines, IA.
Given the global nature of the role, it will require schedule flexibility and up to 40% travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership for both the Quality and Regulatory Affairs functions across the global Nutrisurance business. Member of the Nutrisurance Leadership team, which includes direct responsibility for setting the strategic plan and budget for the Nutrisurance business worldwide.
  • Leads the quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs departments which involves hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of all team members.
  • Consistently audits current and new quality programs and processes for improvements and efficiencies. Brings entrepreneurial spirit to do it best efforts.
  • Builds a world-class culture of quality excellence within the global Nutrisurance teams.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with all internal stakeholders with Kemin Industries, especially global corporate regulatory and QA/QC teams.
  • Achieves expeditious approval of Nutrisurance ingredients worldwide through effective planning, preparation and execution of high-quality submissions/dossiers.
  • Ensures completion of all requirements necessary to achieve external certification of Nutrisurance facilities. Sets the direction for the specific certifications needed to ensure products are consistently meeting all quality requirements.
  • Leads the quality and regulatory teams to cooperate with the Sales, R&D, Ops, and all other functions to provide guidance, estimates on costs, and looks for approval opportunity for molecules or products under development.
  • Develops strategies and provides direction to the Product Innovation Process in the development of information essential to successful product formulations and ensuring compliance with existing regulations.
  • Promotes and markets the value of the quality programs at Nutrisurance directly to customers.
  • Serves as the official Nutrisurance representative to all regulatory agencies globally, including but not limited to the FDA, EPA, USDA, USCG, DOT, DVIA, EFSA.
  • Serves as a change agent to aid in influencing the future quality and regulatory environment.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Science or Legal field with 7 years of relevant experience is preferred OR Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience in a pet food or food ingredient company.
  • Knowledge and/or skills related to Quality Management Systems; ISO, AIB, HACCP, GMPs.
  • Must have excellent time management and organization skills, a high energy level, and a sense of commitment and urgency to ensure obligations are met.
  • Excellence in presenting, fostering relationships across global cultures and overall people management skills.
