DuPont Water & Protection is seeking an Manufacturing Technology (MT) manager, experienced in manufacturing technical, process development and/or manufacturing operations roles, to lead and manage the global Aramids (Kevlar® and Nomex®) MT team. This is a Line of Business (LOB) leadership position responsible to manage the global manufacturing technology organization of 50+ engineers across 4 sites to deliver the process safety and capability needed to operate, maintain and improve manufacturing operations. This position works closely with the Business, Operations and Technology teams at a strategic level to define process technology direction and programs of significance to the business. The position is also responsible for working with operations leadership to define goals (process safety, asset productivity and growth) and budget forecasts. This position works with site technical leaders and professionals to develop and ensure resources are available to meet these objectives and is also the steward of the MT competency for the LOB, especially process safety. As a member of MT leadership, this position is responsible for implementing corporate best practices for the development of manufacturing technology resources and the building of the capabilities needed to support the safe and efficient operation of our plants. The MT manager also establishes effective leveraging of manufacturing technology resources and functional capabilities to optimize utilization and meet plant and contract manufacturing technology needs.

The personnel and operational challenges of this role require an experienced leader who can drive strong process safety management (PSM) practices for Process Hazards Analysis, Management of Change, RAGAGEP, hazards identification & consequence analysis, Layers of Protection analysis, and plant design basis. It also helps the Integrated Operations Leader in driving operational discipline and program execution for safety, productivity, and growth across a global network of plant sites.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure PSM Technology elements are adequately resourced and systems are in place to ensure regulatory and corporate policy compliance and ensure that Safety corrective actions are completed on time and meet the intent.
  • Proactively drive engagement and consistency across the global production assets for the Process Technology, PHA, Management of Change, and Operating Practice elements of PSM.
  • Ensure organization and processes in place to drive Machine Safety Improvements.
  • Proactively engage with the Aramids Integrated Operations leader (IOL) and other business leaders to ensure alignment on critical business issues and reconcile business priorities.
  • Develop and align Technology Strategy (Grow, Improve and PSM) for Integrated Operations consistent with Business, R&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, Quality goals and strategy.
  • Anticipate business operational issues and act quickly to avoid or minimize downsides and accelerate or maximize upsides, ensuring MT is actively engaged as required to ensure success.
  • Identify business issues and develop plans to define and implement technology related solutions that drive improved process safety, capacity release, cost productivity, product quality, and new product commercialization.
  • Sponsor and drive a strong sister plant network to ensure consistent Process Safety Management (PSM) practices and drive MET (Most Effective Technology) deployment across global Aramids assets.
  • Establish MT group objectives in alignment with line of business, site and unit objectives, and lead team to meet objectives through effective prioritization and resource allocation. Remove obstacles from work streams to enable timely completion.
  • Reconcile technical staffing with critical success programs and business constraints. Develop and execute plans to align program execution and staffing with business objectives. Over time, adjust staffing levels as necessary to address business needs including hiring, succession planning, and attrition. Effectively lead a global team.
  • Develop and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure strong alignment with Business Technology Implementation Plan (BTIP) prioritization and execution processes
  • Develop the unit 5-year Manufacturing Technology Plan (MGTP) in concert with the global business asset plan, working closely with the supply chain and business engineering leaders.
  • Manage costs to meet PO budgetary guidance.
  • Develops the 5-year capital improvement plan. Supports capital project execution.
  • Develop manufacturing technical talent (experiences & career planning, technical competency, organizational skills, project management, etc.) and manage succession planning for critical functional competencies.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or PhD in engineering
  • Minimum 12 to 15 years working experience in manufacturing technical, process development and/or manufacturing operations roles.
  • Experience successfully leading multiple projects and global teams while working effectively across organizational boundaries (functions, locations, companies, etc.).
  • Preferred experience as a successful unit / plant leader.

  • Ability to develop technical resources and build the capabilities needed to support the safe and efficient operation of plant
