Position Title: Program Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Programming
Status: This is a full-time, hourly position, working 32-40 hours per week.
Salary: $38,000 – $43,000 based on experience.

Position Profile
Girls on the Run® of South Central Wisconsin is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Program Coordinator to join our team. The Program Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Director of Programming and will make key contributions to the council’s strategic growth as it relates to the planning, development and delivery of Girls on the Run programs. The primary focus will be on program outreach and site development within an assigned territory, as well as supporting coach recruitment, training and engagement.

Major Responsibilities include:

Program Outreach and Site Development

  • Oversee all aspects of programming within assigned territory (within South Central WI)
  • Serve as the primary contact and provide ongoing support for host sites/teams
  • Build and foster existing relationships with sites to meet inclusion, growth and sustainability goals
  • Recruit new sites to host GOTR programming (at schools, community centers, public parks, etc.)
  • Advertise the program using a variety of methods to build awareness in local communities
  • Visit sites to deepen understanding of program delivery, engage with kids, and support coaches

Coach Recruitment and Training

  • Support the recruitment of volunteers within assigned territory
  • Contribute to broad and inclusive outreach efforts, including seeking diverse sources of volunteers
  • Ensure program sites are staffed with qualified, trained volunteers, delivering the program as intended
  • Co-facilitate multiple in-person and virtual coach training sessions each year (with other Programming staff)
  • Support volunteers when redirection or retraining is needed to ensure high quality program delivery

Coach Engagement and Retention

  • Supervise teams of volunteers that lead programming at host sites
  • Build and foster positive rapport with volunteers to create a trusting and supportive relationship
  • Provide timely communication through email, phone and in-person conversation
  • Offer personalized and meaningful appreciation efforts for volunteers

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission
  • Fosters a culture of volunteer engagement
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) personally and professionally
  • Ability to understand and communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, and whole-person health
  • Willingness to coach and/or serve as a substitute coach for at least 2 seasons
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to be used with internal and external audiences
  • Focus on customer service and creating a positive experience for those we serve
  • Resourceful in problem solving, initiative and sound judgement
  • Ability to plan and organize workflow, be self-directed, multitask, and make efficient decisions
  • Proficiency with tools such as: Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, email, data management software, etc.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • Volunteer management experience
  • Experience working in program coordination and/or recruitment
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Non-profit experience
  • Connections to the local community
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English

Working Conditions:

  • In-person office setting, during regular business hours. The office is located at 901 Deming Way, Madison WI 53717
  • Light duty work, including occasionally lifting and carrying 35-pound boxes
  • Evening and weekend work is expected periodically to assist with events (approx. 6 times per year)
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to drive to program sites, meetings and special events is required
