Dean Baldwin Painting LP provides painting services at four locations and has three full-service FAA 145 Repair Stations across the United States commanding over 500,000 ft2 encompassing 14 strip and paint bays. The facilities are equipped to strip and paint aircraft ranging in size from CRJ200 up to the very large B747 aircraft.

The position offered is for the Peru, Indiana facility. This facility was acquired in 2012 and completely renovated, converting the facility to a 156,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art aircraft painting center. The facility has four segregated bays and is expandable to six bays, warehouse, administrative offices, and will accommodate aircraft as large as a B747-8. Facility operates a 24/7 schedule, employs an average of 100-135 full time employees, and serves virtually all sectors of the aviation industry including Major Airline, Regional, and Corporate Aircraft.

General Manager Position

The General Manager (GM) directs and manages the leadership team for this location to execute the business strategy in partnership with Corporate Staff. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The GM is accountable for fostering a culture of safety, quality and excellence and is responsible for the planning and coordination of all visits as assigned by Corporate and contracts management staff, identifying and management of resources, facility oversight and compliance at the local, state, and federal levels. Additionally, ensures customer satisfaction while establishing company objectives, management directives and complying with customer work scopes, visit span times and production quality.

The GM is also responsible for managing and reporting monthly the facility Balanced Scorecard (BSC) which contains Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

GM has a strong management team on site which manages HR, Training, Safety, Environmental Compliance, Production, Facilities and Materials. All these department Managers report directly to the GM.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight for the Repair Station's activities in developing, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Works with the Chief Inspector/Accountable Manager to maintain regulatory compliance and customer requirements.
  • Direct interface with customer representatives and management.
  • Responsible for the performance and accountability of all department Managers
  • Manages budgets and oversees invoicing and cost analysis of all phases of the aircraft visit labor hours, cost, and time tracking.
  • Provides reports to customers and DBP Corporate as requested.
  • Maintain open communications between Corporate and local management team.
  • Ensure there is appropriate capacity and capability to meet schedule and customer requirements.
  • Oversight for employee retention strategy, HR activities and culture with the facility.
  • Monitor overall business performance, responsible for achievement of revenue targets, production and safety goals, and quality standards.

Skills

  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, Smartsheet tools and computer technology.
  • Strong leadership and managerial attributes. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills. Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, short- and long-term goals and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Business degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience as a General Manager.
  • Minimum 5 years aircraft management experience and strong people skills
  • A&P License preferred and experience working in an FAA controlled environment and operations under a 145 Operating Certificate.
  • Aircraft Paint and general aircraft knowledge.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering Orders, Task Cards, paint drawings and technical data sheets by paint manufacturers
  • Good working knowledge of customer work scopes, Airworthiness directives and Engineering Orders.
  • Proven skills to manage a dynamic operation requiring project management skills, budget and planning skills as well as holding departments accountable.
  • Military Aviation Experience Considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to measure performance to company goals and standards and establish targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
