FORKLIFT OPERATOR


Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the selected candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, “Can Do” attitude and be able to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment.


Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: 2 years of related work experience preferred
  • Willingness to complete forklift certification, food safety, and other job training and comply with SQF standards
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, both day and night available
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Mechanical background or experience with equipment is helpful
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various pieces of equipment in the freezer in compliance with regulations with regard to safety and reliability to ensure a high quality product
  • Proactively participate in a timely and professional manner with the process team
  • Operate forklift and place product in freezer in a rack system to heights in excess of 30 feet
  • Load trucks with product and complete paper work for inventory and shipments
  • Safely operate all lifts used in the warehouse
  • Monitor and record information gathered from equipment checks and to ensure effective utilization of Statistical Process Control (SPC) on the process line
  • Effectively and accurately use JDE system by proper transferral, scanning, issuing, and confirming of product as it moves through inventory
  • Respond to company or vendor product requirements ensuring a uniform high quality product so that maximum reliability and confidence in our product is maintained
  • Follow all load protocols as required by our customers, and monitor carrier temperature compliance to pre-cool and set point requirements
  • Ensure product and pallet integrity is maintained and product temperature requirements are met during shipping process
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and also assist other personnel as needed to maintain the same conditions in the shipping area
  • Keep supervisor informed of daily issues relating to the efficient operation mechanical systems
  • Attend and participate in meetings, training and continuing education programs internally or externally as deemed appropriate by management
