Western State Hospital is seeking a Food Service Technician II to perform a combination of operational tasks in support of the Nutrition Services department. Based on training, job functions will include a combination of the following: assembly of patient trays, snacks and bag meals; cleaning dishes, trays, equipment and kitchen facilities; functioning as lead worker performing opening/closing responsibilities; utilizing the CBORD system to perform daily office work – running required tickets, tallies and labels; providing storeroom assistance in receiving/stocking; providing assistance with recipe preparation/pre-portioning/product stocking; cafeteria assistance; vending; stocking; closing and support. All work to be performed in accordance with rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Health, maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for the position include good math and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal guidance is required. The ability to read tray tickets and posted job assignments is required. The ability to lift moderate to heavy objects (20-50+ lbs) is required. The ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and the ability to walk on various surfaces is required. The ability to work when needed in various environmental conditions is required. The ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions is required. Prior experience in the knowledge of foodservice/food preparation, experience with commercial/retail sanitation functions, tray assembly, or experience in vending or receiving/managing inventory is preferred. The ability to count inventory is preferred. Demonstrated experience with various types of databases, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, etc. is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college in a related field, or job experience is preferred. Bi-Lingual in Spanish preferred. Veteran preferred. Preferred: experience in foodservice, experience with commercial/retail sanitation functions, experience in vending or receiving/managing inventory.
