We are looking for a Food Safety Quality Assurance Specialist to play a critical role in the success of JUST Egg at our Protein Manufacturing Center in Appleton, Minnesota.
As the FSQA Specialist you will work directly with the Food Safety and Quality Manager to manage HACCP and QMS Programs. You will be responsible for conducting annual system review of SQF requirements, Food Safety Plans and Prerequisite Programs, including verification and validation systems and hold a position of responsibility in relation to the management of the site’s SQF and Quality Management Systems.

What you'll do*

Serve as the facility PCQI; lead the development, maintenance, training and auditing of the plant Quality systems and specific customer driven programs;

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with the Quality Team and other team members at our Appleton Facility and Headquarters to ensure the success of Quality programs;
  • Lead preparation for and conduct of SQF and other third-party audits;
  • Lead monthly Management Review of Quality SQF program status;
  • Maintain all aspects of Food Safety program including revising, distributing and training changes;
  • Conduct internal and mock audits and facilitates 3rd party, customer, regulatory, and vendor audits; develops and manages root cause and corrective action program for audit findings;
  • Provide customer required documentation including, but not limited to, Certificates of Analysis, and customer complaint/inquiry responses;
  • Maintain supplier approval program for the facility;
  • Serve as the primary trainer for GMP, Food Safety policy and procedures in the plant;
  • Provide Quality leadership to the facility in the absence of the Quality Manager;
  • Collaborate effectively with facility engineering team to ensure that all projects are assessed through the change management process;
  • Provide leadership with cause, effect and corrective actions required to resolve deviations from customer standards;
  • Assists in managing non-conforming goods through the Quality Notification Process by supporting the segregation, tagging, sampling, disposition, and communication of held raw materials, work in process, and finished goods with Quality and Food Safety concerns;
  • Review and maintain Safefood360 systems to ensure actions are completed within due dates;
  • Lead and assist with other business priorities and objectives as needed.

Education & Experience*

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent required; degree in Quality, Food Science, Microbiology or Science-related field a plus;
  • 2 + years SQF quality experience or have equivalent experience with another GFSI standard Safety Quality experience preferred;
  • 2-3 years of food manufacturing and food processing experience preferred;
  • HAACP completed training course.

  • PCQI certified;
  • SQF Practitioner Certified;
  • Excellent critical thinking and time management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills; ability and willingness to work effectively and collaboratively across the Manufacturing Facility;
  • Ability to pass a standard background check.

Additional Information & Requirements*

This is a full-time role based at our protein manufacturing facility in Appleton, MN.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The facility operates 24/7 and requires a flexible work schedule. Occasional weekend and night work required. Occasional travel for training and work required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift 50 pounds and is frequently required to work standing for extended periods of time, climb stairs/ladders and function on elevated work platforms. The duties of the job also require the employee to perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
