General Responsibilities

The Pantry Associate manages the daily distribution of food in the Food Pantry. This person greets students, welcomes them through the shopping process and helps students if they need assistance during a pantry visit. The Pantry Associate assists with the daily operations including keeping the food pantry clean and organized, receiving and storing food and toiletry supplies and checking students in and out during food pantry hours.

Work Performed
  • Maintains an attractive and organized Food Pantry using the evidence based SWAP program
  • Maintains attendance records, sign-in sheets, and tracks data on number of students utilizing the pantry every month
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service training
  • Receives, stores, and stocks up food and toiletry supplies
  • Knowledge and responsibility for proper storage of fresh produce, breads, meats, and meal kits.
  • Checks all perishable items expiration dates and disposes it in an environmentally sound manner.
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports
  • Unpacks food and non-food items; Retrieve items from campus food bins (RCF Hall, Student Activities Building and Hickory Ridge Building) as needed
  • Make suggestions and recommendations to pantry patrons such as recipes and healthy food options
  • Some lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, and using the step ladder to put donations on the shelves.
  • Maintains regular contact and communication with the Wellness Center and Associate Director of Student Wellness
  • Makes recommendations for various food and non-food items to replenish stock
