The Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation is accepting applications for Fitness Center Supervisor. The successful candidate will interact, communicate, and maintain positive relationships with both members and other hospital staff. This position reports directly to the VP of HR & CAO. The key functions of this role will include:

  • Ensure that all fitness center staff consistently exhibit strong customer service.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of billing processes.
  • Ensure proper orientation and ongoing training of Fitness Specialists.
  • Develop and revise policies and procedures that meet the needs of both the Fitness Center as well as its’ members.
  • Supervising all associates, contract instructors and volunteers at the Fitness Center

Other duties will include:

  • Serving as a procedural resource for fitness center staff.
  • Ensuring timely creation of weekly staffing schedules that meet the needs of both the Fitness Center as well as its’ members.
  • Managing and maintaining the Fitness Center.
  • Carrying out duties relative to program assessment and modifications.
  • Assisting members with the development and adjustment of personalized exercise.
  • Providing effective / appropriate supervision and feedback to members.
  • Ensuring ongoing development of groups.
  • Carrying out general administrative tasks such as budgeting, monthly reports, employee records, promotion, etc.

Minimum Qualifications -

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent / Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science preferred

Experience:

  • 1-3 years experience in a leadership role

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Certification from the AHA
  • Certifications within the exercise science field are desirable.

Physical and Cognitive requirements:

  • Must be able to move freely about the facility, either by walking or wheelchair
  • Must have clear, understandable communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a warm and approachable personality.
  • Must be able to interact with adults and adolescents both with and without physical disabilities.
  • Must be organized and able to independently structure time.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment of when to seek assistance from more experienced staff.
  • Must have good function in at least one upper extremity.
  • Must be able to perform simultaneous work task such as talking and writing.
  • Must be reliable in attendance.
  • Must have good memory and problem solving skills and demonstrate good judgment in a variety of situations
  • Must be able to supervise volunteers and technicians
  • Must be able to administer, interpret and create individualized workouts off of standardized tools.
