CAC leadership and program support is comprised of the offices Administration, Fiscal, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Together, these departments play an integral role in helping our programs to live-out the mission, vision, and core values of the Community Action Agency of Pike County – everyday. We provide expertise and assistance with strategic planning, fiscal opportunities and financial management, risk management and compliance, employee relations and performance management, technology and systems solutions, leadership development, and organizational excellence. Position Impact and Purpose…
The Fiscal Specialist is responsible for various financial report preparation, reconciling and reporting activities. The Fiscal Specialist is also responsible for the preparation, reconciliation, documentation and submission of journal entries.

Essential Functions…
Functional Area:
Financial Reporting/Journal Entries

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations*

  • Reconcilement and payment of pension contributions on a bi-weekly basis
  • Assist with annual reconciliation of pension contributions to include assuring that all information is available/coordinated for pension plan reviews.
  • Reconcile, prepare and maintain records required for preparation of various state and federal reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for preparation, reconciliation, documentation and submission of bank reconciliation for the main checking account in accordance with CAC Financial policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for preparing the quarterly allocations of interest earned by various programs.
  • Prepare, reconcile, document and submit all assigned financial reports, which indicate the financial status of the agency, in accordance with CAC financial policies, procedures and the corresponding funding source regulations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for completing change of status for COLA increases, including forwarding to supervisor for signature and tracking responses for process completion, as assigned.
  • Accurate and timely preparation, reconciliation, documentation and submission of all general journal entries in accordance with CAC financial policies and procedures.
  • Accurately and timely reconciliation, preparation and submission of assigned invoices for accurate payment processing (Cardinal, McKesson, AT & T, Spooner, etc.)
  • Maintain adequate filing system for all financial activity responsibilities.

  • Assist as needed with updating budget expenditure spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
  • Answering employees’ questions and concerns regarding journal entries, cell phone.
  • Assist Program Directors in obtaining information necessary for grant proposals, budget revision and program analysis.
  • Assist in gathering related information in preparation for audits.
  • Attend meetings, conferences and training sessions related to duties of this position and disseminate acquired information to appropriate individuals inside an outside the agency.
  • Serve as backup for assigned team members.
  • Assist in performing task necessary to achieve the organizations mission. Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by organizations values.

Minimum Requirements…
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and Associate Degree in Accounting. Associate Degree requirement may be waived in lieu of relevant experience.
Job-Related Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year work experience in Office Programs (Word/Excel)
Minimum of two (2) year’s work experience in accounting or related field

Preference given to individuals with knowledge of Uniform Grant Guidance requirements.
Preference given to individuals with prior non-profit accounting experience.
Preference given to individuals familiar with Nonprofit Accounting Standards.

Working Conditions…*
Position is in a well-lighted office environment. This position may require occasional local and regional travel to attend meetings, conferences and training sessions related to duties. Work is fast paced and deadline driven. Can involve low-to-moderate levels of stress.
