POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, the Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for system maintenance, analysis and reporting of all non-tax levy activities of the University. The Financial Reporting Analyst will work closely with the Colleges’ Business offices and their Related Entities, the University Treasury Office, CUNY Research Foundation (RF), various New York City and New York State agencies.

Among the specific responsibilities of the Financial Reporting Analyst include and are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of the University’s general-purpose financial statements, CUNY RF indirect cost recovery, and Integrated Post-Secondary Educational Data Systems (IPEDS) report;

  • Reconcile deposits and transfer accounts timely with the City and State of New York;

  • Prepares all transactions for funds activities, including investment pool transactions, financialstatement data, footnote disclosures and entries as assigned;

  • Participate in the preparation of financial analysis of University’s related entity activitieswith support from College accounting offices;

  • Provides business process guidance, formal and information training, and system development,analysis of all related entity activities of the University particularly related to general ledger andtreasury accounting;

  • Assists in preparing management and financial reports as assigned;

  • Liaison with Colleges, and other agencies for related entity activities;

  • Provide support for ongoing PeopleSoft ERP implementations;

  • Work on special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Note: Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field. Advanced degree or CPA may replace 1 year of service;

  • MBA or other advanced degree in a business discipline preferred;

  • Professional accounting or financial licensure/certification (CPA) preferred;

  • Knowledge of GASB reporting requirements strongly preferred;

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency using MS Excel spreadsheet functions to perform complexdata analyses (vlookup, pivot tables, sorting) strongly preferred;

  • PeopleSoft ERP systems experience preferred;

  • Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation, and research skills;

  • Strong writing, verbal, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills;

  • Work effectively individually and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders of various; organizational levels, and follow up and complete assignments.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Range is $52,267 - $75,465. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

City of New York employees, and employees of Participating Employers, hired on or after October 1, 2022, and their eligible dependents, will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan, and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment. After

365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365 day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting an Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
