We are looking for a Multi-Family Financial Controller to join our team. The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company including the production of monthly and annual financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls, procedures, and policies designed to enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accounting department which includes one accounts payable tech and one accounts receivable assistant.
  • Oversee the accounting functions of 800+ units under management throughout apx 28 properties, monthly and annual reporting as well as budget approval for offsite managed properties and 4+ offsite property managers
  • Processing Payroll, ensure bank and credit card reconciliations are completed, ensure that all required debt payments are made, ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are completed, all in a timely manner.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Monthly and annual reporting and preparation of Waller Group related multifamily investment property entities
  • Monthly review of annual property income/expense variances/accounting for ALL expenses relating to WGAM Properties including insurance, debt service, and annual property tax protest.
  • Manage all accounting related to Waller Group brokerage company (apx $8,000,000 annual revenue) and WGPM (apx $8,500,000 annual revenue) including monthly reporting to President - WG P&L, WGPM P&L, cash flow statement, Balance sheet, WGPM budget variances, quarterly compensation to job description review.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years related property accounting experience.
  • Individual should demonstrate quantitative analytical and accounting skills commensurate with experience level.
  • Basic to Intermediate competence in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Listens with understanding.
  • Displays a high level of motivation, ability to multi-task with various daily and monthly duties and thrives in deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to take initiative in solving routine problems but includes manager or supervisor in more complex issues /or problems.
  • Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s degree. Accounting classes and experience required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with Quickbooks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • Resman software experience
  • Appfolio software experience
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary of $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
  • Eligible for health, dental, vision, and life insurance options
