Position: Field Trial Scientist

Salary: $80-100K, DOE

Location: Tri-Cities area with flexibility to travel to any of the major fruit tree production areas (Yakima or Wenatchee and adjoining areas)

Hours: 40 weekly, some longer days as needed for R&D projects, flexible

About this role: The Field Trial Scientist is accountable for overseeing our portfolio of on-farm, greenhouse, and research station trials that deliver data to support our product commercialization. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of the trials as well as the integrity, analysis, and interpretation of the data. The Field Trial Scientist will be successful through the establishment of a program culture of excellence in safety, compliance, data returns, and cross-functional relationships and partnerships.

What you'll do:

  • Develop research trial strategies to meet our commercialization goals
  • Establish and maintain a program culture of excellence in safety, compliance, data returns, and cross-functional relationships
  • Lead research trial site selection and the trial design processes
  • Develop and implement an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program across all trial sites
  • Lead research trial site data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Become a proficient user of internal databases and software systems to track and monitor research trial performance

What you'll contribute to our team:

  • Ph.D. degree with at least two years of industry experience; additional relevant work experience may be substituted in place of the Ph.D. degree
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated personnel management, corporate team-leading experience
  • The successful candidate’s degree and experience must be focused on agriculture, and horticulture, with a preferred emphasis in any of our targeted specialty crops of apples, cherries, pears, grapes, and/or hops
  • Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft suite of office software
  • Experience with farm equipment operation and basic maintenance and troubleshooting is preferred
  • Knowledge of modern agricultural technologies and trends
  • A proven self-starter who can work independently and/or as part of a cross-functional team
  • Superior communication skills with a variety of audiences/stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate both positive and negative results to leadership and stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial and passionate outlook on corporate life
