Position Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting to determine and resolve issues, communicating resolutions to relevant groups and customers.
  • Retrieving and organizing vehicle data, to aid in configuration and diagnosis of issues.
  • Following escalation plan to report incidents to relevant groups as needed.
  • Reviewing site assessment reports, identifying risk and mitigations for deployment of autonomous vehicles to new locations.
  • Maintaining documentation of process and improvements to vehicle commissioning and deployments to increase efficiency of operations.
  • Collaborating with software engineers and customers to determine site-specific risks and implementing appropriate resolutions to ensure safe operation.
  • Providing feedback to internal engineering to continually improve vehicle configuration, deployment, and operation processes.
  • Analyzing test data in the field using software tools developed in-house.
  • Communicating issues back to the engineering team for further analysis and problem resolution.
  • Documenting issues, track their status, and record their resolutions.
  • Loading new software versions on vehicles to test new features, fix bugs, etc.
  • Performing the initial commissioning of newly built robotic vehicles, as well as after deployments to streamline repairs and updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware problems with sensors, computers, & cables.
  • Experience with command line Linux tools and system configuration required.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools: Jira/Confluence/Crucible Electrical tools such as multi-meter and network cable testers.
  • Advanced understanding of Linux Systems.
  • Advanced understanding of Debug Tools and System Triage.
  • Proficient with both Windows and Linux command line.
  • Proficient with Linux diagnostic applications such as top, ps, df, wireshark.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree or Certification in related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience working on hardware, software, and electrical systems 2 years of experience in a Field Support Specialist or similar role, OR
  • 3-5 years of experience working as engineering or automotive technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Understanding of communication methods such as SSH, FTP, and VPN connectivity.
  • Understanding of low-level computer concepts such as file systems, networking, and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Ability to read and understand low-voltage electrical schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical tools such as multi-meters and cable testers.
  • Desire to learn and expand your capabilities within the Autonomous Vehicle space.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb onto, into, & under military vehicles for maintenance of robotic computers and sensors.
  • Must be able to stand for extended period of time.
