DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Technician assumes responsibility for providing technical services related to installation, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of Platinum’s products while maintaining effective communications with fellow team members and clients. The Field Technician must perform his duties to assure the safety of himself and those around him and assure cleanliness and orderliness of the work area. The duties and responsibilities of the Field Technician include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Travels onsite to complete service work and monthly preventative maintenance requirements for Platinum’s products.
  • Inspects, investigates and troubleshoots equipment for quality control and improvements.
  • Reads and understands P&ID drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical schematics and technical operational manuals.
  • Works and communicates safely and effectively with field operations, fellow employees, and contractors.
  • Successfully completes and starts up new installations of Platinum products in the field.
  • Manages and maintains appropriate stock levels of inventory and tools.
  • Secures appropriate parts and supplies through designated procurement system.
  • Ensures all appropriate records are maintained such inventories of parts, equipment and tools, work orders, timesheets, etc.
  • Provides onsite and remote technical support to necessary persons (customers, manufacturers, distributors, etc.) for product installs, troubleshooting and training.
  • Uses and adapts computer programs to retrieve and analyze data.
  • Available for 24 hour on-call duty and subject to call-outs and travel time for work associated with field operations and/or emergency response.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area and associated equipment.
  • Proactively responds and adapts in the work environment to meet the highest standards.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates work activities to complete jobs individually and as a team.
  • Expresses ideas clearly in written and oral communication with team members and management to complete various jobs.
  • Understands and utilizes safety procedures and safety equipment at all times.
  • Seeks growth in expanding knowledge and skills through training and education.
  • Presents self in clean, neat, professional manner and wears company uniform (if provided) in its entirety.
  • Communicates questions and concerns to management.
  • Engages in the company’s vision and seeks to implement processes and establish goals with the company’s vision in mind.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, climb, twist/turn, push/pull, squat, crawl/kneel, reach above shoulder.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements.
  • Average close/distance vision necessary in order to record data and operate equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and be understood by others.
  • Must be able to hear the various equipment in order to diagnose issues.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent customer support and troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior experience/familiarity with basic hand and power tools and electrical meters.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Possess aptitudes to learn the basic of combustion, natural draft burners and all parts associated with automation of natural gas burning equipment.
  • Able to read and comprehend technical operational manuals, do load studies and related calculations.
  • Ability to apply a basic understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, operations and duties.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement and reasoning when dealing with any problem.
  • Ability to apply moderate knowledge of computers and office equipment.
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 2 years work experience related to Automation, Instrumentation, or Electrical.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record to operate company vehicle.
  • High School Diploma Required, or equivalent.
  • Safe Land certified preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
