About Field Research Site Leaders

We seek ethical and passionate leaders to become Field Research Site Leaders who will advance research focused on engaging Kindergarten - Third grade students. You will lead a team of field research specialists visiting classrooms and working directly with students in Grades K-3 to complete research activities focused on language and literacy.

By ensuring that the proctor team successfully engages these students in these research activities over the course of a school year, you will help advance important research on understanding the needs of students in early elementary education.

What you will do:

Each Field Research Site Leader will ensure successful assessment delivery according to the research protocol. In order to be a Field Research Site Leader, you must be certified to individually administer a series of measures which evaluate student language and reading skills and deliver site leadership at each assessment location.

Specifically you will:

  • Greet school staff and serve as the primary point of contact for Learning Ally at each school site.
  • Ensure each assessment room is organized optimally for assessments including: setting up hotspots, headphones, incentives, sanitation supplies and masks.
  • Ensure that students are escorted to and from the assessments in an orderly fashion with no disruption to classroom activities in accordance with the school personnel requirements.
  • Serve as a representative of Learning Ally and ensure a positive relationship is maintained with school/ district staff.
  • Collect, review and submit error logs for each day's assessments from each of the proctors.
  • Ensure that proctors have uploaded each day's assessment results and update their apps daily
  • Resolve any rostering or technical issues onsite as they occur.
  • Review and clean collected data as needed
  • Report on the day's activity daily to your the Innovation Leader K12
  • Successfully complete training in the language and literacy activities, which consists of a series of tablet-based subtests and demonstrate proficiency in administration of each subtest.
  • Complete human subjects training provided virtually in order to ensure ethical research practice
  • Deliver the language and literacy activities described above directly to students in Grades K-3 and which require you to have strong verbal communication skills and also strong listening skills in either or both English and Spanish, in order to adequately assess the student
  • Ensure high quality research findings by
    • Quickly building rapport with individual K -3 students assigned to take the assessment.
    • Diligently logging accurate results into a tablet-based app.
    • Maintaining student data privacy and security
  • You are able to lead assessments at specific school locations in Florida in at least some of the following counties:
    • Escambia, Hillsborough, Manatee, Hernando, Brevard, Broward and Collier counties
  • You will be able to commit to one week of online training immediately following hiring

  • You have exceptional relationship management skills and are able to serve the needs of educators under stressful situations by listening and respecting their needs and wishes in alignment with the needs of the research study.

  • You have excellent verbal skills and clearly enunciate directions to students in Grades K-3 as well as distinguish clear verbal responses from these students in either or both English and Spanish.
  • You are able to pass stringent background checks which include fingerprinting delivered by the Florida Department of Justice, certification of COVID vaccines, and evidence of medical clearance of tuberculosis clearance.
  • You have demonstrated success in developing rapport with K and 1 students.
  • You agree on the utility of assessments in understanding the unique instructional needs of a student.
  • You are organized and can manage timelines.
  • You have technical acumen and facility with using technology, specifically an app on an iPad. Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues such as wifi disruption, recording and saving data accurately.
  • You understand the importance of presenting a professional demeanor at all times and which is especially important given that field activities occur in a school setting.

Compensation:

  • $30/ hour depending on experience
  • Temporary Contract based on availability as schools confirm assessment dates.
