Position Description
The Field Inspector is responsible for house inspections and quality assurance to ensure full compliance in the Repairs and Reconstruction projects of the R3 program. Certifies inspections are conducted within the Standards and Guidelines of the Puerto Rico Department of Housing Project Requirements, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the organization to ensure project completion.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain familiarity with CDBG-DR requirements relative to homeowner participation and construction work in the homeowner assistance program.
  • Ensure projects are in compliance with the requirements and specifications of the CDBDG-DR-R3 Program of the Puerto Rico Department of Housing.
  • Carry out daily Quality Control Inspections, milestones inspections and final inspections of the projects to certify these comply with the established milestones.
  • Ensure the safety and occupational health of the projects.
  • Verify that projects meet OSHA requirements and standards are being carried out.
  • Offer guidance to people who work in the field.
  • Maintain communication with the Program Managers inspectors.
  • Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, and specifications.
  • Visit projects to verify established construction plans and standards are met.
  • Take photos of the projects.
  • Ability to design architectural and/or structural drawings specifications.
  • Schedule inspections, maintain record and update the project progression in data base.
  • Prepare and file a report after each inspection of the project.
  • Any other function required to support the R3 program.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable R3 Program policies, requirements, and procedures.

Job Qualifications

  • Possess an associate degree in delineation, civil engineering or a blueprint reading course
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field of construction or inspection or architectural design and/or structural drawings readings, is preferably
  • Considerable knowledge of construction management, inspection, methods and materials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient computer skills including in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license
  • Fully bilingual, English and Spanish
