Adams Land and Cattle has an exciting leadership opportunity for someone to provide overall leadership of the Mill and Feeding teams.


This person will be responsible for:


  • Supporting/driving the overall safety strategy of the company. Exemplifying safety expectations.
  • Providing overall leadership of the Mill/Feeding area and identifying methods of optimizing safety, quality, and productivity. Activities include, but are not limited to:
    • Ensuring the daily operations in feed delivery are conducted accurately and consistently;
    • Being accountable for the daily mill and flaking production;
    • Working with Projects and Maintenance teams to coordinate planned downtime, backup feeding, and off shift work;
    • Evaluating daily feeding reports (TPH, DM’s, DMI’s, Bunk Conditions, etc.), while providing feedback team and leadership.
    • Directing all delivered feed commodities – unloading and loading;
    • Calling bunks, as needed.
  • Working closely with the company nutritionist to drive optimum cattle performance.
  • Evaluating daily inventory of all feeding ingredients to ensure excellent feeding practices are being followed.
  • Monitoring and maintaining reports and information flow to computers by inputting records in accordance with FDA and QA to ensure quality production.
  • Assist with harvest including the construction and management of ingredient piles and quality control of feedstuffs.
  • Driving a culture with a focus on effective equipment/facility maintenance by:
    • Ensuring that equipment/facilities are maintained, greased, washed, and preventive maintenance activities are completed in a timely fashion;
    • Submitting work orders for repairs;
    • Ensuring completion of maintenance by conducting spot checks.
  • Overseeing the general cleanliness of work areas assigned to the work group.
  • Assisting with budget development and approving invoices for cost center expenditures.
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities to enhance company profitability through reduced expenses and/or increased revenue.
  • Communication and Leadership:
    • Leading shift startup meetings.
    • Representing the feeding team at Monday morning safety meeting.
    • Communicating and supporting company strategies and changes.
    • Training and developing new and current team members; while communicating progress and areas of opportunity to management.
    • Providing ongoing feedback and recognition to team by setting performance objectives and communicating throughout the year on progress.
    • Driving accountability by working with Org Development and management to facilitate conflict resolution, performance improvement, and corrective actions to the team.
    • Screening applicants through interview process and hiring applicable candidates
    • Working closely with all levels of the organization and promoting effective and positive relationships with other teams.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:


  • Commitment to safety and quality culture.
  • Previous feeding experience is required; previous mill experience and knowledge of general mechanics is beneficial
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Exceptional ability to use analytical techniques for problem solving, coordination, and decision making.
  • Driven, organized, action-oriented, analytical, and ability to multi-task.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Individual must be team-oriented.
  • Professional communication (both verbal and written) and customer service skills.
  • Serve all customers both internally and externally with a positive, professional, respectful and courteous attitude with honesty and integrity.
  • Strong computer skills


This position requires:

  • Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, if needed.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 pounds of force frequently; 10-20 pounds of force constantly. Standing and sitting frequently; walking, carrying, and lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, stairs, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching occasionally.

Compensation Details:


  • $20.00-$25.00 per hour
