Title: Farm Maintenance Technician

Summary: This position is responsible for performing various general labor tasks as directed.

Reports to: Farm Manager or Station Manager

Classification: Non-exempt position

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Work Environment: This job operates in agricultural fields and other outdoor areas. This position occasionally operates indoors for short periods of time. This job may occasionally be performed in extreme heat.

Essential Job Functions: Perform various general labor functions as required, including, but not limited to:

• Repairs and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Crop establishment and maintenance.
• Daily communications of activities to the Farm Manager or Station Manager.
• Promoting a safe work environment.
• Operating company vehicles in a safe manner.
• Maintaining professional appearance in dress, vehicle, and workspace.

Physical Requirement:

• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Able to climb and descend a 15-ft ladder, and work comfortably at that height for greenhouse work.
• Able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time.
• Able to move about in agricultural settings and other outdoor settings, including, but not limited to, walking distances up to half mile at a time, traversing uneven ground, kneeling, stooping, crouching, stepping over rows of crops.
• Able to wear required protective gear on the body and face, such as coveralls, gloves, and goggles.
• Able to perform general labor tasks, including, but not limited to climbing, lifting, carrying, shoveling, and maneuvering in cramped locations.
• Able to hear and speak on the telephone.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Basic construction skills required.
• Basic welding, electrical, and plumbing knowledge are critical skills.
• Experience in safe operation of power tools and farm machinery.
• Class E drivers’ License and insurability under company’s auto insurance.
• Excel at operating in fast paced environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong grasp of best agricultural practices for commercial agriculture crops, a plus, but not required.
