Redifarms is an indoor hydroponic farm start-up growing produce year-round in Westfield, NJ. At Redifarms, we recognize the need for local, pesticide-free produce in order to reduce our carbon footprint as well as supplying healthier, more nutritious, and tastier alternatives to the plastic-wrapped options available at grocery stores today. Our indoor, hydroponic approach to food production guarantees year-round availability for the local community. Redifarms is engaged in the adaptive reuse of existing buildings to create sustainable food production serving local communities and promoting a plant-based lifestyle to support individual and planetary health.
We are looking for an indoor Farm Hand to join our growing team in Westfield, NJ. This role will provide operational support at our production farm, where we grow a wide variety of head lettuce, cut greens, herbs, microgreens and culinary mushrooms. This is a part-time (24 hours/week) or full-time position.

Requirements

• Reliable with steady transportation to our Westfield location
• 18 years or older
• Excellent attention to detail
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs and use small ladders.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Proficient in Microsoft suite
• Able to follow directions well
• Comfortable using manual and automatic harvesting equipment
• Comfortable with getting dirty and/or wet
• Ability to both work independently and collaboratively with others
• Has a passion and is willing to learn. Horticulture/indoor farming experience is NOT required for this role. We will teach you everything you need to know to help you do the best job possible.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic farm duties such as seeding, pruning/thinning, transplanting, harvesting, etc.
• Enters daily grow data into online forms as directed by lead growers
• Maintains cleanliness of the farm by doing dishes, power washing, mopping, etc.
• Uses small mechanical tools to complete farm tasks
• Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at the direction of management.
