The Family Support Organization of Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren Counties services the tri-county area. Our main office is located in Washington, NJ and we are currently seeking a Family Support Partner to fill a need in Somerset County, NJ.

Under the direction of the Family Support Coordinator, the Family Support Partner provides peer to peer parent support to parents/caregivers of children enrolled in the NJ Children's System of Care. "If you are not a parent/caregiver with this experience, you will not be considered".

Responsibilities:

▪ Build supportive relationships with parents and guardians of children receiving CMO services and referred to the Family Support Organization.
▪ Learn, understand and practice the Wraparound Model.
▪ Educate families on the values and principles of the System of Care.
▪ Support families as appropriate at Child/Family team meetings by ensuring the family voice is heard and incorporated into the ISP planning and implementation.
▪ Provide direct advocacy for families by participating in Individual Educational Planning (IEP) meetings, court hearings, and other meetings as requested by the family.
▪ Coach families on techniques of self-advocacy.
▪ Assist families in understanding and navigating the child welfare, mental health, juvenile justice and education systems.
▪ Act as a referral resource to parents and caregivers.
▪ Other responsibilities as they relate to providing peer-to-peer support.
▪ Assist with support groups and events as needed.
▪ Maintain written records as required.
▪ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Must be a parent or caregiver with experience navigating NJ's Children System of Care (behavioral, mental health, substance abuse or juvenile justice system)

* Must be willing to agree to a criminal history background check

* Requires a valid drivers license, reliable vehicle and current certificate of insurance

* CPR and first aid helpful but not mandatory
