SUMMARY: National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner to develop client treatment plans, file medical reports, and prescribe medications for treatment. This position is Weekends Only, every other Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Must be licensed in Virginia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide acute and chronic medical care to adolescent and adult substance abusers
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess client’s clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on client’s condition.
  • Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive client care plan.
  • Submits health care plan and goals of individual clients for periodic review by the medical care team.
  • Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • May refer clients for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Lead client health education seminars.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Family Nurse Practitioner licensure (Virginia required)

Suboxone Waiver (required)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Experience working in a psychiatric care setting or mental health/behavioral environment preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience promoting good health and maintenance
