The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is searching for an enthusiastic, outgoing, reliable individual to fill a Family Intensive Resource Support Team Case Worker (Direct Care Worker III) with the F.I.R.S.T. Team located at the DDS/Metro Regional Office in Waltham, MA.

Job Responsibilities: (The duties and responsibilities stated are a general summary and not all inclusive).

  • Assists in the assessment of individual and family needs and in the development of goals and interventions to address those needs.
  • Provide programmatic direct supports to everyone within clients’ home or community. These supports may include but are not limited to: Behavioral, Recreational, and Community safety and community integration programming.
  • Provide direct supports in daily living and social skills by instructing and/or assisting individuals.
  • Provides training and mentoring and serves as a role model for family members to effectively implement the goals of the FIRST contract.
  • Works with families to implement the goals identified in the FIRST contract.
  • Performs all administrative tasks, as needed.

  • Knowledge of general disability groups
  • Understanding of Human Rights
  • Ability to use current marketed software

Please Note:

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Days off: Sunday and Saturday

Qualifications

First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have (A) at least two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in providing direct support services to persons with developmental/ intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:
  • An Associate’s degree or higher with a major in a human services field, including sociology, special education, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Incumbents are required to possess a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
