Facilities Technician (Seattle, WA)

Full-Time (40 hours per week) Hourly/Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)

Year-Long Work Schedule

Compensation is based on experience.

Position may be reviewed as a Lead Facilities Technician, depending on experience.

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Facilities Department as a Facilities Technician (possibly Lead Facilities Technician depending on experience). We are seeking a candidate who will support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that displays and proves an understanding of cultural fluency. This position reports to the Director of Facilities and works closely with the school’s Facilities Department, as well as staff, faculty and outside vendors. As a member of the Facilities Department, the Facilities Technician position is responsible for coordinating and completing maintenance requests, providing problem-solving skills and supporting day-to-day needs of the Facilities Department and school, as well.

While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the following key responsibilities and tasks:

Assess and repair facilities throughout campus, while utilizing qualified expertise in one or more core skill-set area, to include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and/or building systems
Perform preventative maintenance on facilities throughout campus
Lead or assist with plumbing needs on campus
Paint various areas on campus
Perform furniture repair
Lead or assist with carpentry, to include: ceiling tile/grid work, sheetrock
Lead or assist with lock and key repair
Assist with the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and grounds, as needed
Move management, to include office and classroom relocation and set-up
Perform other general maintenance duties, as needed
Assist with school traffic needs
Provide event support
Other projects, as assigned by Director of Facilities

Experience and Professional Competencies:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
Qualified experience in one or more of the following core skill-set areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry and/or building systems is preferred
Professional experience in facilities technician role is preferred
Professional license in related field(s) is preferred
Experience working in a school setting is preferred
Completion of advanced training or coursework in related field is preferred

Ability to prioritize duties with limited supervision
Effective collaboration skills in working with the Facilities Department team, faculty, staff and vendors
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Apps and Windows and Mac OS, as well as an interest in learning new software

Additional Requirements:
Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
