This position is part of the Marmon Rail Division and will be assigned to a repair shop location either at Union Tank Car Company or Transco Railway Products, Inc. - North America locations, or Procor, at one of their Canadian locations or work remotely. This position will report to the Manager, Expediting and Customs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As an individual contributor, the Expeditor becomes involved directly after a purchase order (PO) is awarded and ends when the material is physically received and accepted at the destination site per set procedures. The main responsibilities include that the Expeditor ensures that all open POs are confirmed by the assigned suppliers, and these suppliers meet the agreed delivery schedule.
Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure that all released POs are sent to suppliers and are confirmed following the required turn-around time.
  • Review open POs regularly for expediting to avoid Shortages and ensure accurate data are maintained in ERP system.
  • Perform clean-up of past due POs and identify underlying reasons and provide corrective and preventive actions.
  • Resolve material issues by maintaining contact with the Supplier until the final receipt of material at the site.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with suppliers to resolve issues for better performance and track action plan status.
  • Ensure the supplier meets the agreed delivery schedule.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all delivery-related communications.
  • Maintain healthy, open relationships with the suppliers.
  • Update/generate weekly reporting on the progress of issued Purchas Orders indicating status, commitment inputs for late deliveries, reasons for delays, and action is taken to expedite matters.
  • Leads/Co-leads the monthly reporting on expedited POs on-time delivery.
  • Handles critical suppliers
  • Completes workload on time and processes transactions in a timely manner.
  • Implements error-proofing method to ensure all transactions done is accurate.
  • Lead/Co-lead on the development of documented processes and timely updates.
  • Generate Monthly KPI Metrics and Weekly Report Summary.
  • Subject matter expert on processes and point of escalation.
SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Committed to operating within a safety-centric environment, which includes working safely and taking action when unsafe practices/conditions are identified within the plant.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Records and database management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations.
  • Experience with consignment inventory, receiving, and quality best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, and respirators.
  • Ability to see and hear the visual and audio safety warnings in the plant.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and stretch to perform tasks.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of related work experience in a corporate environment.
