Short Stories Hotel opened in February of 2022. Located in the heart of the Fairfax district, across from the Original Farmer’s Market and The Grove, Short Stories offers a great hotel experience as well as indoor and outdoor dining. On its face, you know the score. Rooms to rent, a courtyard to gather, drinks setting the stage for conversation. A good hotel will offer all of these, but a great hotel is something else entirely. A great hotel offers experience, little unexpected moments that fondly hang around our memories. They’re the stranger who buys you a drink, an agreement reached over lunch, catching your favorite film by the pool and the list goes on.

It may be odd to say we trade in magic, but that’s how we see it. It’s an attention generously paid to detail. A pride taken in a style of service that’s become increasingly rare. We are currently hiring for a dual role which would be focused on the management of events as well as curating the hotel and restaurant's social media presence.

Job Description – Events and Social Media Manager

Reports To: Hotel General Manager

Position Summary:

Events:

  • Receive incoming event requests
  • Reach out to corporate clients for events (holiday parties, etc...). Event Sales.
  • Send events deck, call, and make suggestions to client to get to point of BEO creation
  • Identify client requirements and expectations
  • Create BEO's and send to F&B and GM for approval on pricing
  • Send BEO's to client and follow up once all approvals are in place
  • Manage events calendar
  • Liaise with client, vendors, and on-site staff for successful event execution
  • Conduct final inspections on the day of the event to ensure event will meet client expectations
  • Manage event set-up and tear down
  • Maintain internal budgets for events
  • Deliver event assessments to improve event quality and communication

Social Media

  • Create a social media strategy for the hotel to be presented to management
  • Seamlessly integrate new strategy into existing strategy upon handoff from M18
  • Create content calendars for approval
  • Plan fun and engaging content on property (photographer is a big plus)
  • Capture content on property making the property feel alive and activated
  • Capture busy times at the restaurant, be on site for major events capturing content, etc...
  • Follow like-minded instagram accounts, comment, and like other accounts
  • Respond in a timely manner to messages through the social media account by coordinating with F&B and FD team.
  • Coordinate photo shoots on property by either hiring photographers, or trading with photographers
  • Coordinate influencer dinners, stays, etc...
  • Plan influencer events
  • Coordinate with F&B team to have updated menus, hours, etc on social media platforms

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
