Job Title: Heavy Civil Contracting Estimator / Project Manager

Location: Brooklyn Center, MN

Terms: Full Time

Salary Rate: $50,000-60,000

Job Summary: Prepares estimates of the cost of projects before the project begins. Assists in job planning and implementation through organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.

List of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing estimates of probable costs of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Understand contract specifics, prepare submittals, and track approval in writing.
  • Complete and track change orders with approval and in writing
  • Identify opportunities, create advantages, and maximize bid profit
  • Continuously track in-house production rates, analyze and apply to future estimates
  • Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes, and addition to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Assist in setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Assist in preparing cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors,

Subcontractors; and assists in preparing economic feasibility studies on changes and

adjustments to cost estimates

  • Assists in planning organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating construction projects

from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget

  • Assists with developing and implementing quality control programs
  • Representing your company on matters such as business services
  • Assists with preparing progress reports and issuing progress schedules to clients
  • Assists with evaluating vendors, obtaining quotes for materials, reviewing costs/value, and direct

purchasing

  • Assists with hiring and supervising the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Assists with performing quantity takeoffs

Qualifications:

  • Experience or degree in heavy civil construction, civil engineering, or a related discipline
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, and estimating
  • Ability to read and understand contract documents
  • Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to learn or have prior experience with Bid2Win, FMP, Take-off software, GPS software, or accounting software in order to track job costs.
  • Passing background check

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Valid Driver’s License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
