Environmental Technician tasks include the following:

  • Perform calibrations and Method 21 monitoring
  • Document and report changes in the field, such as new components, missing tags, and open-ended lines
  • Complete daily paperwork and electronic data entry
  • Perform specialized tasks such as cooling tower monitoring and FLIR camera monitoring
  • Read P&IDs and understand process flow

Attend the safety and operations portions of the LDAR meeting held each morning.

Follow all verbal and written instructions provided by the Site Supervisor/Area Compliance Manager.

Attend all required training to ensure certification in EPA Method 21 and proper training in all technical and legal aspects of fugitive emissions.

Ensure that reliable, well-maintained, and accurate analyzer is used and conforms to EPA Method 21 requirements.

Complete daily and quarterly Method 21 instrument calibration using certified reference gases for each leak definition based on site-specific requirements.

Document calibration on Daily TVA Calibration Log and file based on site-specific requirements.

Perform calibration drift assessments, if required by site.

Complete AEM Job Hazard Analysis/Job Safety Analysis (JHA/JSA) or similar site-specific analysis prior to start of any work at each job site daily.

Obtain background reading before beginning monitoring, and update as required.

Conduct routine monitoring of route in accordance with Method 21 standards and as assigned.

Perform FLIR camera monitoring as needed.

Perform cooling tower monitoring as needed.

Read and interpret P&IDs to provide insight on process flow.

Manage MOCs as needed. Document the number of added and/or deleted components associated with each MOC change order.

Perform basic database management such as uploading, downloading, and creating routes.

Ensure that leak tags with all required information are completed and hung properly for leaks found during monitoring.

Complete required documentation for OELs, AVOs, and other items that need to be corrected.

Complete a Change/Retired Form for any changes observed (retired or dismantled components, etc.).

Communicate with plant operations and personnel regarding leaks and other LDAR issues in the field.

Turn in handheld and all paperwork to Database Administrator or Site Supervisor at the end of each monitoring shift for upload into LDAR database.

Complete Daily Job Summary for all tasks performed.

Maintain an accurate work record by clocking in and out at the beginning and end of each shift.

Perform field QAQC and updates as needed.


24


Implement corrective plan as required.
