Join our team as an EH&S Business Partner/Manager. This position has primary responsibility for managing the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes for a facility. They work with plant personnel and Corporate EHS to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and the implementation of best practices. They manage internal EHS systems and complete required reports and notifications. They also conduct EHS training and coaching as necessary.
Responsibilities

  • Process Management: Implement all elements of the Worthington Steel Safety Improvement Process. Ensure EHS systems are implemented and maintained effectively including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SDS Management System and others. Responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all EHS related laws and regulations. Maintain EHS incident records and post health & safety related information as required. Maintain facility level programs and procedures in accordance with Corporate EHS Management System. Manage environmental permits and ensure proper completion of records and reports. Complete all safety and environmental related testing as required. Inspect property, equipment, and work practices for compliance with regulatory and insurance carrier standards.
  • Training: Facilitate EHS Training as required. Ensure required safety and environmental training has been identified and completed for new and existing employees.
  • Risk Assessment: Ensure all job functions have appropriate risk assessments completed using Safety Failure Modes, Effect Analysis (SFMEA). Maintain Environmental risk assessments, incorporating ongoing actions to minimize and/or reduce the facility’s Environmental impact. Ensure all necessary personal protective equipment has been identified and is used as required. Coordinate all necessary industrial health and audiometric monitoring.
  • Communication: Manage, support, and provide direction to the safety council. Complete internal incident notifications in accordance with company policy.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain partnership with EHS-related vendors to ensure our needs are being met.
  • Incident Investigation: Manage incident investigation process to identify root causes. Ensure proper documentation of findings and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Associates degree with major course work in EHS, risk management or a closely related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in EHS, risk management or a closely related field is preferred.

Desired Experience

  • 3-5 plus years of progressive EHS program management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation; or other professionally recognized certifications in EHS are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety compliance.
  • Continuing education provided (ISO Training, OJT Regulatory Training).
  • Knowledge of Online EHS Incident Management System (Velocity EHS).
  • Demonstrated strength with analytical/problem solving, oral and written communication, Microsoft Office applications and organizational skills.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership and management skills.
