The Platform Engineering team is seeking a Distinguished Engineer who can lead strategy and execution of a technical roadmap for enabling Azure cloud platform services for our enterprise applications. A Distinguished Engineer will work with management, product owners, and our engineering teams to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing system. The Distinguished Engineer will apply their knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to critical and complex problems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Azure and delivering well architected platform services for our business applications.

Responsibilities

As a Distinguished Engineer, you will:

  • Works with Principal and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems as well as identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems
  • Lead Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities
  • Building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Lead collaboration efforts with software vendors, tech partners, and business stakeholders
  • Lead collaboration with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest problems.
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
  • Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
  • Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective
  • Be a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community.
  • Influence and educate executives.
  • Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plans
  • Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, and demonstrate adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning
  • Create and publish technical / architecture / design guidance documentation for Engineers on the teams to follow as best practices when building systems and services.

Qualifications

  • Exemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap.
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production.
  • Track-record of publications history in credible conferences and journals.
  • Expertise in Domain Driven Design, Microservices-oriented architecture, Design Patterns and extensible REST APIs
  • Deep understanding of the agile environment (Scrum/SAFe)
  • Proven technical experience in Technology / Architecture Leadership role
  • Proven experience building influential and impactful relationships internally and externally to lead and drive change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).
  • Ability to lead the development and execution of architectures for enabling Azure platform services for our enterprise app teams.
  • Utilize programming languages like .NET, Golang, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Azure App Services, Service Bus and Event Hub and a variety of Azure tools and services
  • Strong understanding of .Net Frameworks and associated runtime environments.
  • Experience use of Visual Studio 2019, VS Code and VSTS GIT for source control and Azure DevOps CICD.

Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • 8+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 6+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 4+ years of experience with Azure Cloud (AWS or other cloud platforms, a plus)
  • 3+ years of people management experience

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Annual Salary

$120,000.00 - $261,500.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
