Position Title: Employment Services Manager, Southeast Wisconsin

Location: Remote (must live in Southeast Wisconsin and be willing to travel frequently throughout the area) - approximately 50% of time in the field

Reports To: Director of Employment Services

Status: Full-time (40 hours/week)

The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and related disabilities and their families through awareness, education, information, programs, services, and the exchange of ideas and experiences.


DSAW provides programs and services throughout the lifespan (Parent’s First Call for new and expectant parents, children’s services, adult services, employment services, and aging services), as well as educational opportunities and events.


We have an immediate opening for an Employment Services Manager in Southeastern Wisconsin. The Employment Services Manager will help us to continue offering quality employment services and programming as well as expand our current services throughout Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha and Washington Counties, and start new services in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth Counties.


The Employment Services Manager will manage the Employment Services Senior Coordinators. The Employment Services Manager will provide regular training and support for staff, and will serve as an expert resource when issues arise. In addition, the Employment Services Manager will be charged with overseeing the broad planning, vision, expansion, and quality of programs and services throughout the region.


We are looking for someone who has extensive experience working with individuals with diverse abilities, and more specifically, has experience working with funding sources such as DVR, CLTS, IRIS, and Family Care. The ability to build and expand partnerships with school districts and businesses is also an essential part of this role. Previous experience handling multiple business lines is preferred. Previous experience managing staff is required. This manager must be a big-picture thinker, while at the same time have the ability to assist coordinators to think through micro-level decisions and issues. The Employment Services Manager must be passionate about ensuring quality services - we are looking for someone who is committed to ensuring the staff in their region uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.


In order to complete this job well, the Employment Services Manager must be very comfortable with technology, and have the ability to quickly learn new systems, such as a new Case Management System. The Manager should have a thorough understanding of MS Office/G Suite products. Experience with a client management system and a time tracking/scheduling system is a plus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Regional Growth & Strategy
    • Work with the Director of Employment Services as well as other managers and coordinators on big-picture strategy for regional growth in our core services: job development, job coaching, job retention, pre-vocational skills training, and temporary work experiences
    • Help grow services and programs through activities such as reaching out to area businesses, school districts and other community stakeholders, attending relevant DSAW and community events, etc
    • Work with the Director of Employment Services and other managers and coordinators to meet quarterly and annual goals for the region
    • Oversee the overall Employment Services plan throughout the region and give input to ensure services and programs are coordinated and in line across the state
  • Quality and Fidelity
    • Ensure Coordinators, Job Developers, and Coaches are following standard operating procedures and organizational policies
    • Assist in overall efforts to collect regular feedback from families in the region to ensure quality services, and help suggest changes when needed
    • Provide regular check-ins with staff to ensure quality services and programs are being met.
  • Staff Management
    • Directly supervise Coordinators in the Southeast Wisconsin region, including providing regular feedback and completing annual performance reviews
    • Train new Coordinators and provide ongoing training to all Coordinators in the region
    • Serve as a coach for coordinators to assist them with regional planning, participant-specific troubleshooting, gathering resources, etc
    • Review and analyze time sheets for Coordinators and Employment Specialists (job developers) and approve any time sheet changes for Support Staff.
    • Understand the caseloads throughout the region and recommend new hires when applicable to the Director of Employment Services
    • Assist Employment Services Coordinator with managing the waitlist and authorize new Job coach hires when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 6+ years working with funding sources such as DVR, IRIS and Family Care
  • 6+ years working with families and clients with developmental disabilities, preferably in previous roles such as a Job Developer and/or Job Coach
  • Significant experience in business development and building partnerships
  • Staff management experience required
  • Experience in Customer Service/Sales is valued
  • Case management and program management experience preferred
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
  • Applicants must pass a caregiver background check that meets State of Wisconsin requirements

  • Willingness to accept flexibility with their schedule
  • Able and knowledgeable to cope with emergency situations or behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner
  • Able and willing to be a team player and to work cooperatively with their supervisor
  • Able to communicate effectively with participants, employees, and funding sources and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi task and adhere to timelines set forth for quality management

Compensation

Given that the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin is a non-profit organization that is not engaged in the production of goods or services, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Wisconsin overtime law does not apply to DSAW employees. Nonetheless, this is a salaried position.
