You'd be joining a team focused on healing our communities!

What you'll do:

  • Team will provide preventative care and strong collaborative treatment with specific law enforcement to ensure that communities are supported, educated, and guided to proper mental health communities.
  • Team will train with specific law enforcement agencies to define roles in psychiatric emergencies.
  • Team will educate law enforcement in what constitutes a psychiatric emergency.
  • Team will be stationed but not limited to individual police stations to offer assistance to those seeking psychiatric assistance. Team will also respond to residences as well as other community settings.
  • Along with emergency dispatches, team will conduct preventative outreaches to the community. These referrals will be provided by law enforcement to individuals that are seeking psychiatric services but do not meet the criteria for emergency screening.
  • Team will attempt in person follow ups of clients discharged from PESS/COPE. These follow-ups will include successful entry to mental health treatment.

The COPE team will be trained by SWAT:

  • Respond to SWAT calls in the community.
  • Offer assistance to SWAT that includes psychiatric history.
  • Gain collateral information from others involved such as family or friends. The information would be shared with SWAT as well as help to develop the disposition of the patient.

What you'll bring to the team

  • Master's degree in the mental-health-related field from an accredited institution, plus one year of postmaster's, full-time equivalent, professional experience in a psychiatric setting;
  • Bachelor's degree in the mental-health-related field from an accredited institution, plus three years post-bachelors, full-time equivalent, professional experience in the mental health field, one of which is in a crisis setting;
  • Bachelor's degree in the mental-health-related field, one of which is in a crisis setting and currently enrolled in a master's program.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record
  • Must have strong clinical skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Motivation and strong social skills to build healthy relationships with our clients and partners
  • Flexibility and passion for working with children/adolescents
