    Position: Learning Specialist Teacher K-5
    Posting Dates: May 16, 2023 – Until Filled
    Reports To: Woodside Elementary School Principal
    Beginning: August 2023

    Qualifications:

    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement required.
    • CPI/CPR certification preferred.
    • Knowledge of reading, math and writing interventions.
    • Familiar with strategies, including check in and check out, progress monitoring and data collection.
    • Knowledge of positive interventions, supports and good problem-solving skills.
    • Good collaboration/communication skills.
    • Experience working with various disabilities.
    Job Responsibilities:
    • Provide small group intervention sessions.
    • Develop/implement behavioral intervention plans and reinforcement systems.
    • Consult with teachers, parents and administrators.
    • Coordinate IEP services with team members, including general education teachers, school social worker, speech language pathologist, occupational therapist and physical therapist.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
    • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
    • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
    • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
    • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
    • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
    • The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance.
