Katalyst Surgical, part of the ZEISS Group (www.zeiss.com) and an industry leader in the design, manufacturing, and quality control of ophthalmic and nuero surgical instruments, is growing and looking for a hands-on Electronic System Technician. This position will assist with the development of a neurosurgical device within the Research and Development Group.

As an Electronic System Technician, you will:

· Maintain configurationcontrol on all products assembled

· Assist with engineering documentation control

· Verification/Validation testing

· Software/Firmware functionality testing

· General Testing

· Perform PCB-levelsoldering and rework as needed

· Perform incoming inspection on critical components and sub-assemblies

· Quality check on electrical assemblies of complete machines

· Upload software to system micro-processors

· Perform Electro-mechanical assembly using various types of hardware and tools

· Maintain control over equipment and tools used in the assembly process

· Build/wire electrical sub-assemblies

· Use lean manufacturing concepts in assembling product

· Inventory maintenance

· Perform other duties as assigned

As an Electronic System Technician, you bring to the table:

· Associate degree in technical or engineering field or equivalent work experience will be considered. High school diploma or equivalent is required

· Experience with PCB validation protocols testing and reports

· Experience with troubleshooting electronic systems

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

· Great attention to detail, especially proofreading of documentation prior to submittal

· Strong organizational skills

· Ability to multi-task while maintaining high quality performance

· Strong communication skills, both written and spoken

· Ability to work cross-functionally with a team, including engineering, regulatory, marketing, and manufacturing personnel

· Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box

· The desire to be hands-on and involved through the entire process

Bonus Points for the Following:

· Electro-mechanical experience preferred

· Experience with electrical test equipment: Digital oscilloscope, Arbitrary waveform/function generator, LCR meter, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, PC-connected test equipment preferred

· Ability to follow work instructions and understand and read mechanical drawing

· Experience in a hands-on Electrical/Electronics production environment

· Intermediate computer skills including familiarity with CMD terminal shell operation, JTAG programming interface with embedded microprocessors preferred

· Experience in the medical device field, or another regulated industry preferred

· Manufacturing experience preferred; electronic experience strongly preferred

· Strong written and interpersonal skills, such as data record keeping, technical writing, communicating well interdepartmentally and in an engineering and manufacturing environment.

· Strong planning/organizationalskills with ability to prioritize work assignments

· Basic knowledge of engineering DHFs (design history files) and DMRs (device master records) preferred
