Electronic & Electrical Specialist

Summary:

Install, maintain, repair, and rebuild all types of electronic equipment and electrical machinery throughout plant.

Working Procedure:

  • Inspect, repair and maintain electronic and electrical parts on machinery and equipment in plant.
  • Including die sinking machines, numerical control machines, magnaflux units, radio control cranes, welders, presses, laboratory and research equipment, P.A. systems, etc.
  • Study electrical and electronic drawings, manuals and parts lists, analyze defective operation and make repairs including repair or replacement of parts.
  • Rewire or make alterations to electronic or electrical circuits to fit specific needs for machine or equipment operation.
  • Operate various test instruments such as volt-ohm meters, signal generators, oscilloscope, etc., used in checking electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Perform electronic and electrical work for installation of any kind of machinery or equipment, including press controls and data processing equipment.
  • Maintain records of service and types of repair made on various pieces of electronic and electrical machinery and equipment.
  • Fabricate component and circuit network to update electronic and electrical components where parts are no longer available.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance inspections on equipment as required, making minor repairs on spot and listing work that should be performed to prevent breakdowns or improper operation.
  • Rebuild electronic and electrical equipment such as electronic controller boards, radios, contactors, relays and tape controls.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts Journeyman’s Licensed Electrician preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years on the job experience, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Requires electronic school training, knowledge of electricity, ability to read electronic and electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams Uses wide variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to test circuit and use results to alter equipment performance where necessary set up and operate tracing equipment.

Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule

This position is a union role with the USW

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May have to work in awkward, twisted positions. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly
  • Works independently and devises own methods in a variety of complex repair and installation assignments
