Electrical/Instrumentation/Utilities Supervisor

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Director of Operations, Plant 1

Summary The Electrician Supervisor is responsible for coordinating a wide variety of installation, repair and electrical/instrumentation/boiler/utilities maintenance projects. Schedules staff, sets priorities, maintains records, budget jobs, troubleshoots problems and is responsible for company compliance with state and federal codes as well as generally accepted practices of the trade. This person will also lead the development and training of the electrical/instrumentation/maintenance staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assess, develop, implement and evaluate the on-going schedule of all preventative electrical/instrumentation/boiler/utilities maintenance programs.

  • Supervision
  • Troubleshoot Problems
  • Install, maintain and repair electrical and instrumentation components
  • Maintain Distributive Control System and PLCs
  • Maintain all steam related systems and associated equipment
  • Maintain all required electrical/Instrumentation and maintenance documents.
  • Comply with Federal and State codes of practice

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Electrical/Instrumentation and Boiler/Utilities department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Seasonal Production Responsibilities

During the production season, this position will be responsible for product quality, cost control, operational efficiency and process systems. During the production period this position will supervise production employees (Seasonal and Full-time). The supervisor will work 12 hour shifts during the estimated 100 day production season. The supervisor’s shift work will consist of 50% on days and 50% of the season on nights.

Education and/or Experience The ideal candidate selected for this position would have 5-7 years experience in a bulk aseptic tomato processing operation. In addition, the candidate should have five years of experience as an electrician. Experience should include responsibility for product quality and equipment functionality. The candidate should have at least one year of supervisory experience.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
