We work across three practices areas, energy, infrastructure and development, to support clients, such as, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

GPTech is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Department of State (DOS) Engineering Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts. The objective of these contracts is to obtain the full range of engineering and administrative expertise necessary to assist and support the DOS Office of Construction Management (CM) build and renovate diplomatic facilities abroad. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing technical inspections of electrical work, monitoring the construction contractor’s quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance. This position will be located in given task order location.



Responsibilities:
    • Provide a full range of critical engineering and construction quality assurance management and technical oversight of the program to ensure the completion of individual projects in accordance with contract requirements.
    • Ensure that the contractor is performing the required contract work in accordance with the design documents.
    • Review engineering shop drawings and determine whether the contractor has complied with the final design parameters.
    • Observe onsite construction and determine whether construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly.
    • Perform quality assurance tasks, ensure that the construction contractor’s work is properly inspected and that corrective actions take place, ensure that materials meet contract, review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements, and resolve conflicts.
    • Monitor the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety program. Observe onsite construction and determine if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly.
    • Monitor construction progress via the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on the technical review of project documents and field inspections.
    • Perform technical inspections of the electrical elements of the project.
    • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Project Director and/or Contracting Officer Representative.

Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university in the United States and a minimum of 7 years’ experience on construction projects
    • Demonstrated experience in construction management
    • Knowledge of international codes
    • Experience working with multilateral or bilateral donors, such as U.S. Agency for International Development, World Bank, Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency
    • Experience providing quality assurance for ongoing constructions projects
    • Experience in assessing and responding to requests for information
    • Experience in reviewing and evaluating design calculations and data from an engineering perspective
    • Experience with reading design/construction drawings and ability to understand design narratives and calculations
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • - Knowledge of construction safety regulations, e.g., EM 385-1-1, OSHA
    • Ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance
    • Willingness to travel worldwide
    • Professional Engineering registration is preferred
  • - Specific experience with high- and low-voltage equipment, as well as telephone and fire alarm systems desired
    • Overseas experience preferred
    • Ability to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved reasonable accommodation for exemption upon employment or December 8, 2021, whichever is later, in accordance with GPTech policy
