Job Description:
Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial heating and air conditioning systems, has an opening for an Electrical Engineer at our corporate office in Bryan, OH.

Scope and Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of new electrical and control systems for wall mount air conditioning units. The design should be in compliance with UL, ETL and other applicable national and state electrical codes. Focus on designs that are manufacturing friendly. This includes specification reviews, development program timelines and reports, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation packages, preproduction builds and transfers to production. This engineer will also be responsible for technical support of products currently in production.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates electrical systems, products and components for HVAC applications by applying knowledge of electrical engineering.
  • Perform detailed calculations to ensure system design is in compliance with established standards, codes and specifications
  • Work with mechanical engineering team to deliver products as per the agreed guidelines in the New Product Development (NPD) process.
  • Aggressively identifies and implements cost reduction ideas and programs to meet the cost reduction goals of the department.
  • Work across a variety of functional groups that are directly involved in engineering, product development, implementation and product launch.
  • Devise testing methods to confirm the system functionality and capabilities of electrical components and systems
  • Minimize production and development delays through planning and active participation in the NPD process
  • Communicate engineering information across teams and departments to facilitate successful completion of large-scale projects
  • Write test procedures, installation / trouble shooting guidelines and reports. Participates in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.
  • Maintain detailed database of electrical products and component parts
  • Provides technical support to sales and marketing.
  • Supplies technical information to the Tech Service Department when needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with a minimum 1-2 years of experience in electrical systems design, development and testing.
  • A combination of education and at least 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering will be considered in lieu of a BS degree
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with air conditioning systems and heat pumps is very desirable.
  • Must be familiar with standards and guidelines as per DOE, ASHRAE, AHRI, IECC and UL.
