The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager is an experienced manager of process position that is responsible for the implementation, administration, and support of the company's environmental, health and safety programs. This includes ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, and company policies; providing support for management, and supervisors; performing accident investigations and facility audits; performing safety and environmental training; developing training material; and directly supporting EPA, OSHA, DOT, and international programs. The EHS Manager will proactively work to ensure safe behaviors on all shifts, in all areas of safety and environmental compliance and best practices. This position does not have direct reports.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with operations to develop, plan, implement and maintain environmental, health and safety programs for Liberty Packaging’s Fort Worth plant to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards
  • Drives root cause analysis, corrective actions, and key projects for any identified EHS concerns.
  • Develop and conduct safety audits and facilitate/review corrective action
  • Facilitate and work with cross–functional team (HR, Risk Management, Production) on incident investigation and resolution and workers compensation prevention and return–to–work planning/implementation
  • Design and conduct training to provide employees and managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize hazards and perform their jobs safely, and to speak up when they recognize unsafe behaviors or conditions.
  • Maintain safety training records to meet government requirements, as well as to provide data for problem solving and decision making
  • Develop and promote communication programs to enhance and encourage employee participation in and awareness of safe behaviors, safety regulations, and LDI’s zero tolerance approach to serious safety violations.
  • Supports efforts to develop and sustain Zero Injury Culture at the plant.
  • Lead safety committee and emergency response teams
  • Track, analyze, and report safety statistics/information. Leverage to identify and address drivers of near misses and incidents.
  • Provides operations with information pertaining to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures all necessary reports and other requirements are submitted to regulatory agencies and other government bodies as required
  • Other duties, as assigned


Required Skills


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ Years’ experience in EHS role in a manufacturing environment
  • Expert knowledge of safety principles and concepts
  • Strong understanding of state and federal (OSHA) environmental and safety regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, office operations, and facilities/grounds
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and completing necessary documentation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and the ability to comprehend and communicate at multiple levels within and outside the organization.
  • Proficient in all standard desktop software tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Prefer EHS Certification such as LSP, CSM, or CSHM
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
