General Statement of Duties:

This position provides support to clinical users of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and coordinates with Information Services on other clinical technology activities for CareOregon. Core functions include operational support, data reporting and review, and user education. This position also serves as the organization’s primary liaison between the IS/Infrastructure Department and clinical areas.


Essential Position Functions


Operational Support

  • Work with clinical management to develop and coordinate effective data workflows, policies and procedures.
  • Organize, assist and coordinate activities of clinical software application projects to ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame.
  • Maintain familiarity with all of CareOregon’s applications with a focus on clinical applications for primary care EHR.
  • Gather and synthesize clinical best practices in relation to electronic health records.
  • Track internal feedback, recommendations, and areas in need of enhancement; work with management to prioritize needs.
  • Partner with Information Services to provide technical support and testing during system upgrades.
  • Function as a change agent in support of the clinical information system applications to ensure it is adequately meeting end-user needs; seek to make improvements as needed.
  • Make recommendations to support decisions for new clinical systems and technology programs that meet organizational standards and requirements.
  • Provide a clinical perspective to assist in evaluating technology involved with the delivery of the EHR.
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for technological enhancements or workflow re-engineering in all clinical areas; work with Information Services to coordinate and support changes.
  • Evaluate and address the impact of computer-based systems in the patient care areas.
  • Provide input into technology upgrades or decisions in relation to clinical needs.
  • Help implement new technology that will benefit patients and staff.
  • Partner with Information Services on systems maintenance needs.

Data Reporting and Review

  • Develop custom reports and ensure data is presented in a meaningful way.
  • Run routine reports; import/export data as needed or requested by leadership.
  • Routinely monitor internal usage, dashboards and data integrity.
  • Work with management, clinicians, and quality staff regarding areas identified for data correction and process improvement.

Systems Education

  • Create and/or utilize product training, documentation, and definitions supporting processes related to the EHR system.
  • Provide training, documentation and support to clinicians and other system users as part of the onboarding process, following system upgrades, and ongoing as needed.
  • Provide first level support to clinical and non-clinical employees relating to the internal system process, data definitions, and workflow.
  • Help communicate maintenance notices and procedures to employees.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience providing EHR support to clinical staff required. EHR administration experience preferred.
