Position Title Director, Student and Young Adult Ministry

Reports To: Campus Pastor

Hours: Full Time or Part Time

Church Position Summary:

Crossroads Community Church is a growing non-denominational church with the mission of leading others to life-changing faith in Jesus Christ. Our multi-site campuses and mission affiliates are centered in the northern portion of Maryland, a short drive from Gettysburg, PA, Baltimore, and just a little longer drive from Washington, DC. Nearby schools such as McDaniel College, Stevenson University, and Carroll Community College provide opportunities for outreach, relational ministry, and local fun.

The successful candidate embodies the vision, mission, values, and theology of Crossroads Church (visit crossroads140.com) and has experience aggressively recruiting, strategically leading, and pastorally developing teams. Experienced in providing oversight and leadership to coordinate ministry goals, the ideal candidate keeps Christ first in prayer, values collaboration with staff, partners with families, and celebrates kingdom wins as team wins.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and manages strategy for effective student ministry
  • Partners with families/guardians in guiding students to grow in faith, wisdom, and friendship
  • Recruits, equips, trains, and leads volunteers, interns and part-time staff for student and young adult ministry
  • Coordinates and plans special events (i.e. volunteer orientation/training/appreciation, church wide connection events)
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the campus team for campus events and Crossroads All Staff events
  • Communicates with students and young adults and some main services
  • Collaborates with ministry teams such as children’s, all-abilities to ensure cohesion in providing an integrated environment
  • Provides efficient and effective communication for inclusivity of students, staff, parents/guardians, and volunteers

  • Commitment and support of Crossroads mission, vision, values in everyday life
  • Exhibits humility, teach-ability, organization, teamwork, discernment, wisdom, and strategic agility
  • Passion for sharing Christ with students and their families/guardians
  • Passionate about multiplying disciples in student and young adult environments
  • Thorough knowledge and/or understanding of student ministry
  • Desire and ability to build teams with greater unity and interaction among people of different abilities, cultures, and economic backgrounds
  • Active and engaged member of Crossroads Church
  • Spiritual maturity as evidenced by self-awareness and holistic growth
  • Connection to community and a desire to build community relationships
  • Experience implementing communications and registration systems
  • Knowledge of trends in the development and delivery of training including the use of technology
  • Experience with effective communications and consensus-building
  • Highly capable with technology and office software as well as an aptitude for learning other necessary software
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Education/Experience

1. Education: Undergraduate degree required. Seminary degree preferred.

2. Experience: 4 or more years of student ministry experience.

Working Hours and Conditions:

This position is full time. Office hours and meeting schedule must be consistent and mutually agreed upon with the campus pastor. There are some “all hands” events per year such as Christmas, Easter and Fall launch where extra hours or flexible hours may be required.
