Oakwood Village has an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join our Prairie Ridge (East Side of Madison) senior living community facility team as a Director of Resident Care Services. Our Director of Resident Care Services plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the nursing services across the campus
The Director Of Resident Care Services position has one position available:

  • Full Time, 80 hours every two weeks from 8:00am4:30pm, Monday through Friday with weekends based on departmental need.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruits (in collaboration with Human Resources), retains, sets staffing levels and motivates, rewards and as necessary, disciplines/coaches, all Oakwood nursing personnel on the campus.
  • Provides direction and leadership to the nursing function to assure care and quality standards are met, compliance with regulatory requirements is in-place and met, and that staff are educated, aware and compliant with Oakwood policies and protocols as the same apply.
  • Assures a care coordination approach across the various disciplines (e.g., therapy, dietetics, social work, etc.) to effectuate the primary resident outcome required/desired.
  • Assumes and maintains ownership for all clinical outcome standards applicable to the nursing function such as falls, infections, medication/care/service errors, weight loss, dehydration, call light response times, antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, and others as established current or future, by Oakwood.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with federal, state and local regulations and requirements. Sets staff and operational expectations including the use of systems, policies, procedures and protocols to ensure to the greatest extent possible, deficiency free/substantially compliant licensed operations.
  • Collaborates with the Campus Administrator and the Executive Team on the development of budgets and other plans to assure proper resource allocation and investment for the nursing function; related equipment and staff requirements.
  • Collaborates with VP of Clinical Excellence and Innovation on the development and implementation of nursing policies, protocols, competencies and related education.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and other QA related functions as required on the campus. Such functions and duties may be external to the nursing function.
  • Personal and emotional capacity to handle periodic stress of competing demands and vague and challenging needs from residents and staff. Must be able to deal with loss and grief associated with resident death and family/significant other losses and to maintain an emotional balance level to provide support and where needed, resources and direction.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING

  • Unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursin1. Current clinical and historic capacity to provide leadership to the resident population and related care needs on the Oakwood campus.
  • Organizational competence to develop and implement staffing models and plans to assure appropriate levels of staff (competence and number) to meet the clinical nursing care needs of residents across the campus.
  • Managerial competence to assure high performance from the nursing team (achievement of outcomes/performance standards) and to retain and develop staff members.
  • Problem solving competence to identify deficiencies and to produce and implement, plans of correction to address and overcome the deficiency.
  • Communication competence to make needs known, to communicate complex ideas and plans to an ingrained comprehension and performance level (demonstration back), to address difficult situations and create resolution and to convey issues and challenges to reports (above and below) in a concise, factual and actionable manner.
  • Professionalism to demonstrate and exemplify nursing excellence and to serve as a visible external and internal role model for staff and the Oakwood community (internal and external).
  • Coaching competence to be able to teach, motivate and team-build using resources and developed tools to improve and ingrain, superior care delivery systems and processes and to accentuate and maintain, the capability of staff. Must be a referent and servant-oriented leader.
  • Ownership philosophy to act independently within a complex environment and to be accountable for all outcomes and results that are part and parcel of the nursing function and the care delivery of Oakwood to its residents.
  • Able to use Windows Office software applications with moderate/functional capability in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to use Matrix clinical software either on employment or with training at a high proficiency level
  • Ability to effectively address and communicate a complex message to groups as large as 50. Communicate means in this case, that the group can reiterate with accuracy, the information provided when asked.
  • Time management capacity to balance multiple deadlines and commitments while still assuring expected care outcomes and operating objectives.
  • Personal flexibility to work as needed and to from time to time, work a myriad of shifts and hours as well as duration of hours throughout any given workday.
  • Mathematic proficiency to read and interpret, prepare and analyze, various reports involving percentages, decimals and requiring basic mathematic operations of multi (ADRN, RN or BSN) with a minimum of five years progressive nursing clinical care experience with at least three years of specific management experience in a clinical leadership or equally complex operational capacity. Preference is given to candidates that have experience in long-term care, post-acute care, seniors housing environments. Ideally, candidates with RN status but not a BSN with have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in another discipline or are working toward a terminal professional degree with an identified, end-date.
  • Additional clinical or leadership certification in nursing or related fields or occupations is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,442.89 - $124,315.23 per year
