Qualifications:

The Director of Operations will lead the day-to-day operations or the branded rental program and vacation rental management team to provide a first-class resort experience for our guests, create a welcoming and collaborative relationship with homeowners and to care for and maintain our residences in excellent condition. The Director of Operations will foster a positive colleague culture and ensure safety and security throughout the property. The Director of Operations acts as the primary liaison with homeowners, outside vendors, realtors and the Club at Kukui'ula. As the Director of Operations of this business, you will uphold Destination Residences Hawaii (DRH) values, mission and vision statements and fully support the guiding principles set by Hyatt Hotels.

As the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for the successful field operations of the guest services/front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and owner services departments. As the premier vacation rental operator on Kauai, our team will deliver luxury services comparable to the top hotels in Hawaii. Service and care are the core of what we do and our values support a culture to achieve superior results.

You will nurture a progressive and results oriented culture through leading by example, motivating, training and holding all team members accountable to achieve property goals. Install operational efficiencies through implementation of company policies and best practices, including technology adoption and training. Achieve the financial goals of the property through diligent cost controls and a keen understanding of business forecasting in a highly variable environment.

  • Requires five or more years working in Four or Five-Diamond hotel or condominium properties in a position(s) with heavy guest service responsibilities.
  • Requires three to five year’s previous hotel management experience with a commitment to guest service and satisfaction; management experience in a five-diamond-hotel or condominium is preferred.
  • Prior experience with condominium or real estate projects involving direct responsibility for homeowners or homeowners’ associations relations.
  • Two years of formal post-high school education in the field of Hospitality Management preferred; bachelor’s degree desirable.
  • Requires excellent time and project management skills, as well as high quality written and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership, organization and management skills.
  • Requires strong written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with homeowners, guests, vendors and colleagues including basic grammatical knowledge to write effective business letters and inter-office memos.
  • Demonstrates functional and productive skills using technology such as personal computers, smartphones, and software including Microsoft Office. Familiarity with hotel property management systems, purchase order and procurement systems and the ability to learn new software and related applications including work order and productivity systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a high-paced and continuously changing environment.
  • Demonstrates proper and consistent judgment in making good business decisions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and colleagues in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner including executive team, homeowners, management, business partners and a diverse group of hourly colleagues.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii driver license, with a clean driver abstract.
  • Flexibility to meet the property demands which may exceed a 40-hour work week, working rotating or multiple schedules to ensure optimal coverage and may include working weekends, evenings, holidays or on-call situations.
