Position Summary:

As an industry leader in wholesale, retail, and residential food distribution, Baldor Specialty Foods continues to grow and evolve at a rapid pace across all departments. The Director of Inbound Logistics will manage a team of 2-4 inbound logistics managers and planners within the larger supply chain team and support supply chain strategies across Baldor, bringing business context and transportation planning expertise together. The inbound logistics team is responsible for all processes that support inbound transportation, including the development of tools, managing contracts, determining optimal MOTs, negotiating spot market freight, tracking line hauls, and managing exceptions. The Director will actively communicate cross-functionally to create seamless transportation execution across our network. This position will partner with supply planning, outbound transportation, operations, and accounting, amongst other teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategy and seamless execution of all inbound logistics processes for all Baldor facilities including importation of goods where required.
  • Own the logistics cost and budget: contribute to Budget elaboration and cost projection, monitor invoice coding and payment process, track actual spent vs. budget, identify gaps, and define remedy actions if necessary.

· Lead, mentor, and develop logistics team members to grow logistics management, product, and business-applicable knowledge and skill sets.

  • Drive for continuous improvement in visibility and cost management in logistics execution while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Develop product transportation handling segmentation strategies aligned with the overall budget targets and create roadmaps to deliver improvements that balance cost with quality.
  • Key partner in network optimization strategy and other upcoming larger supply chain initiatives.
  • Collaborate with supply planning and receiving teams to drive process efficiencies and ensure product arrives at facilities in a timely manner while optimizing receiving capacities
  • Adapt processes and systems to automate or eliminate non-value-added activities for team.

· Understand and analyze key landscape drivers by tracking macro market trends, watching applicable regulatory and legal evolutions that might impact transportation, and maintaining network to gain exposure to relevant best practices.

  • Ensure appropriate process controls and documentation align with best-in-class transportation excellence expectations.

· Build internal service level agreement: drive team to resolve issues and complication that arise from internal schedule changes and LSP/vendor performance interruption in a timely manner.

· Develop standardized root cause analysis, developing and presenting action plans to mitigate any future risk.

· Drive inbound LSP QA and service score carding programs to ensure performance metrics are optimized, tracked against, and visible to overall organization and supply base.

· Influence LSPs to participate in and implement key supply chain initiatives.

Qualifications:

· BA / BS Degree required.

· Good foundation of supply chain principles and distribution required.

· APICS CSCP or CLTD or CPIM certification preferred but not required.

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and 5S preferred but not required.

· Minimum 2 years’ experience managing teams (with a minimum of 2 head counts).

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in Transportation with a minimum combined of 6 years’ experience in any of these areas: Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Supply Planning, Procurement, Buying, Demand Planning, and/or Materials Management.

· Experience within produce/fresh product and refrigerated transit preferred but not required.

· Experience with both contracted and market-based freight required.

· Experience with both internal and external fleet preferred but not required.

· Minimum of 1 year experience in a TMS system and related SaaS platforms.

· Minimum basic Excel skills required (v-lookups, pivot tables, and formula use).

· Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau is preferred, but not required.

· Experience measuring and tracking against KPIs.

  • Strong professional communication skills with an ability to deliver complex information to a variety of audiences with impact.

· Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, and time/process management skills with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates sound professional judgment and makes high quality decisions within an environment that can have tight deadlines and ambiguity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
