The Allen Law Firm is searching for a dynamic and fast-paced self-starter to join our team as the Director of Finance and Accounting in our Richmond office. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Firm's finance and accounting function and is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Executive Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Encourages and facilitates opportunities for professional development.
  • Provides constructive and timely evaluation of performance.
  • Handles disciplinary issues of employees in accordance with company protocol.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains full integrity of all revenues. Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Recommends best practices to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand and execute the organization's goals and strategy related to the Firm's financial standing.
  • Oversees capital assets projects, ensuring organization's goals are being met.
  • Oversees and leads organization's annual budgeting process.
  • Compiles fiscal estimates and prepares fiscal reports as required. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends and makes recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Identifies challenges to the efficient execution of organization-wide accounting and finance processes and procedures. Recommends solutions to senior leadership.
  • Develops and implements policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support the department's day-to-day, compliance and strategy needs.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of industry trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and finance-related principles, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's financial management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of five years' financial management experience working in the legal, financial, or other professional services industry required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of deskwork at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds on occasion.
