JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for CHI’s development and communications department. Secures funding and grants from foundations, individual donors, government agencies, corporations, and other sources. Manages fundraising database. Coordinates volunteer activities between corporations and individuals and CHI programs. Works with the CEO on external communications, social media, and marketing.

JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.

  • Develop and execute CHI’s annual fundraising plan including strategy for special events, board giving, and other fundraising campaigns and strategy for developing a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
  • Establish benchmarks for success and monitor progress and results against revenue goals Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, government, and corporations
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Coordinate with CHI’s shelter/housing and innovative services departments on searching for and exploring new innovative grants, request for proposals, contracts, and other opportunities.
  • Write content to earn grants, establish new audiences, and foster relationships with donors and other corporations
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation, government, and corporate fundraising
  • Organize special events, including galas, events, retreats, etc.
  • Manage the Agency’s website and social media accounts
  • Develop and write a monthly newsletter and oversee all marketing communications of the agency
  • Analyze and follow-up on development opportunities, self-generated, or generated by other agency personnel
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of potential funding sources for new projects
  • Provide regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Work closely with the Chief Housing Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Services Officer, and other key staff
  • Accept flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the agency
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of all aspects of fundraising related data management systems and acknowledgement processes
  • Align the organization with industry best practices for donor prospecting, meeting tracking, and contact management
  • Other duties may be assigned to ensure the successful operations of the organization


JOB-RELATED DUTIES – MANAGEMENT

  • Networking skills: Develop and maintain relationships with governmental agencies, not-for-profit programs, private and public funding sources, and corporations to successfully implement program goals and objectives.
  • Resource Development: Develop and implement agency programs and procedures. Prepare grant applications as appropriate and seek alternative funding sources.

Salary: $100,000 annually

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: BA (required), MA (a plus)
  • Experience: 5 plus years of experience in fundraising, program development, event planning and communications. Demonstrated excellence in fundraising, preferred.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with potential and current sponsors/ donors, as well as top management and coworkers is crucial; experience speaking before groups preferred. Regular use of telephone and email for communication is essential. Proficiency in English required.
  • Computer Skills: Competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Donor Perfect or other web-based fundraising software, Constant Contact or other communications software.
  • Reasoning Ability: Must have ability to prioritize, multitask, and make strategic decisions.
  • Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines.
  • Physical Performance: Must be able to travel offsite (about 25%) to represent the Agency (e.g., give fundraising presentations, attend meetings, conventions, etc.).
